In day-to-day management, Exchange administrators, taking into account storage pressures, typically limit the capacity of the user's mailbox, which allows administrators to control the size of mailboxes and manage the growth of mailbox databases through storage quotas. When a new mailbox database is created successfully, each user's mailbox is restricted by default. By default, the maximum storage space for each mailbox is 2335MB, when this quota is reached, the message is blocked from being sent and received, a warning message is issued when 1945MB is reached, and the message is blocked when 2048MB is reached. As shown in the following illustration:
Administrators can set quota limits on the data mailbox database level as needed, either by setting the capacity of all mailboxes in this database or by setting mailbox capacity for a particular user. Next time we'll talk about the task-driven approach:
Task one: Set mailbox capacity for individual users
Note: Limit the maximum mailbox capacity of Dufei to 1GB, when it reaches 1.5GB, it is forbidden to send and receive mail, warning capacity is 900MB.
Methods: Open the Exchange Management Console---Recipient configuration-Mailbox, and then right-click "Dufei" to open the Properties dialog box, as shown in the following illustration:
Switch to the Mailbox Settings tab, open storage quotas, and set the capacity to prohibit sending, no sending and receiving, and warning, respectively. As shown in the following illustration:
