The "TechCrunch 40" seminar, hosted by TechCrunch, a renowned science and technology blog site, was officially opened in Monday, at the TechCrunch founder Michael Al Arlington (Michael Arrington) and social networking site Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg ( Mark Zuckerberg, who said he would not sell Facebook in the near future. The following is a summary of the dialogues:

Arlington (hereinafter referred to as "a"): Facebook has grown 4 times times in the past 12 months, do you think Facebook can afford this high growth?

Zuckerberg (hereinafter referred to as "Tie"): The current growth rate is 3% a week.

A: And your page views are down.

Tie: We think that if you give more control to the user, they can share more information. The more information they share, the more experience Facebook can bring to users and the higher their return rate. In the weeks after we launched the News service, page browsing and traffic rose by 50%.

A: I heard that a user complained, how do you feel about it?

Tie: We haven't been able to communicate well with our users about Facebook's mistakes. What we need to do is correct the mistakes, give the users more control and give the users more pertinent explanations.

A: You launched your Facebook platform this May, what exactly is the "social graph" tool?

Tie: "Social graph" is a service model for Facebook. We don't want to create new ways of connecting, but just to reflect the real world. As far as the platform is concerned, our idea is to provide more convenience services to users, which is also an important part of the social graph tool.

A: MySpace wants to shut down third-party apps, and Facebook is doing the opposite, is it appealing to investors and others?

A: After an open platform, third party software developers can develop new products based on Facebook's existing services. Six months ago Facebook had opened the API (Application programming interface), so it was already partially open.

AH: When will you put more ads on Facebook?

Tie: We've already put some ads on Facebook, and they're all more targeted. In the next six to 3-6 months, we will also introduce more innovative measures, but it is still inconvenient to disclose details.

A: Talk about your favorite Third-party application software.

Tie: That's a lot, like video apps, we can only say "great".

A: Talk about the platform encountered problems, the application software has been a lot of users, and many software has a "black Hat" (refers to all kinds of cheating) activities. Application software began to be more open, but later the degree of openness was gradually reduced. How does Facebook deal with this problem?

Tie: Facebook has to decide whether to open up to partners, or to set up an open route. The best way to prevent negative effects is to stop them from getting into the system. Although our solutions are not perfect, we will further refine them in the future.

A: The industry says you'll fix it when you find it, but is it necessary to do so if you have benefited from some deficiencies?

Tie: We adjust the measures in order to be able to deal with various activities, especially the attention from the registered users to active users.

A: If a start-up company develops new software, should it be used first for Facebook or for other networks?

Zha: All can.

A: But some apps are only available on Facebook.

Tie: There is a difference between Facebook and other networks. Some apps are stable on Facebook and others can be used as stand-alone web software.

A: Talk about Facebook's RSS news aggregation business.

Tie: We're going to do a lot more to make Facebook more open.

A: At present, users must log in to access information. Facebook recently opened its internal email system, does this mean that it will open the general functionality of the Facebook email system in the future?

Tie: The start phase only opens one piece of information to one user at a time, and more recently it can be sent. Facebook can now block a lot of junk mail, which is a good thing. We want to do better in this area, but Facebook is not an email service provider for basic positioning.

A: Can you talk about the financing rumors?

Tie: We don't want to see Facebook being bought or IPO.

A: Based on application software products, you already have countless development teams, how will you support them?

Tie: I have something to declare ...

Announcement Essentials: Facebook wants to provide more convenient conditions for application developers. The Facebook fund will set up an advisory board with Facebook investors, and any developer can submit apps to the 10 million dollar Fund, which will then receive an award of 25,000 ~25 million dollars. It's just a reward, not an investment, and it's not currently implemented; But anyone can apply through the Facebook.com platform, the standard is that developers need to have a strong interest and creativity.

Audience questions: How to solve Facebook's search problem?

Tie: Netizens can search for any user in Facebook, but block out private information settings. Details are only visible to users when they log on. This approach allows new users to view other users and avoid leaking large amounts of user information.

Audience questions: In theory, if News Corp buys Facebook, LinkedIn and MySpace, how can three social networking sites be integrated?

Tie: This will never happen (laughter from the audience).

Q: When can Facebook support open formats such as micro-format (microformats) and open IDs?

Tie: At the moment we have limited staff and we have more important things to do, and these things are related to the future of Facebook.
