FaceTime allows you to make video calls over a wireless LAN. Use a front camera for face-to-face conversation, or use a back camera to share people or things around you.

To use FaceTime, you need a wireless LAN connection with the IPad 2 and Internet access. The contact you are calling must also have a device or computer that can use FaceTime.

　　Login

To use FaceTime, you need an Apple ID. If you have an iTunes Store account, MobileMe account, or other Apple account, you can use the Apple ID with FaceTime. If you do not have an Apple ID, you can create one when you open FaceTime.

　　Initiate FaceTime call

To initiate a FaceTime call, open the FaceTime application and select a person from the Address book, personal collection, or recent call list.

Call Contact: Tap Address Book, select a name, and then light the e-mail address or phone number that they used with FaceTime.

To add a contact: Tap Address Book, then tap, and then enter the person's name and e-mail address or phone number. If the contact is not in your area, be sure to enter the full number, including the country/region code.

Redial recent calls: Tap recent calls, and then select a name or number.

Call a contact person in your personal favorite: Tap personal favorites, and then tap a name in the list.

　　When you call

When you talk to someone in FaceTime, you can switch the camera, change the direction of the camera, mute the microphone, move the picture in your picture, open the other application, and end the call.

Switch between the front camera and the back camera: Tap the toggle button.

Change camera direction: Rotate the IPad. The images your friends see will change to keep the same. To avoid turning the screen when you move the camera around, open the direction lock.

Mute the microphone: Tap the mute button. Your friends can still see you, and you can either see your friends or hear your friends talk.

Move your picture to show: Drag a small window to any corner.

Use other applications during the call: Press the main screen button, and then tap the application icon. You can still talk to friends, but you can't see each other. To return to the video, tap the green bar at the top of the screen.

Close call: Press the end button lightly.
