In order to keep files in a computer XP system clean and organized, and to save disk space, you should often delete files and folders that have not been used. In addition, files and folders that are mistakenly deleted should be restored in a timely manner.
1. delete files or folders
Step 1: Open the folder window of the file or folder you want to delete, select the file or folder you want to delete (see Figure 1, left), and click the "delete" key.
Step 2: Click the Yes button in the pop-up Delete confirmation dialog box to move the selected file or folder to the Recycle Bin folder, or delete the selected file or folder, as shown in Figure 1, at the right.
2. recover files or folders that were mistakenly deleted
Step 1: To recover files or folders that were mistakenly deleted, double-click the Recycle Bin icon on the desktop to open the Recycle Bin window.
Step 2: Right-click the file or folder that you mistakenly deleted, and from the shortcut menu that pops up clicking Restore (see Figure 2), the file or folder will be restored to its original location.
Small knowledge: If you do not select any items, click the Restore all Items link in the Recycle Bin task pane to restore all files and folders in the Recycle Bin window to the location before it was deleted.
3. Empty the Recycle Bin
Although the deleted file or folder is moved into the 冋, the files in the 冋 collection will still consume disk space. Therefore, users should periodically check the Recycle Bin, if you confirm that there is no need to retain the content, should be emptied in time. Here are some ways to 淸 empty Recycle Bin.
> Right-click the Recycle Bin icon on the desktop and choose 淸 from the pop-up shortcut menu.
> select the file > empty Recycle Bin menu in the Recycle Bin window.
> Click the empty Recycle Bin link in the Recycle Bin task pane of the Recycle Bin window.
> in the 冋 Receive window, right-click the file you want to delete and choose Delete from the pop-up shortcut menu to remove the selected file from the Recycle Bin.
Tip: When you delete a large file, you can remove it directly from your hard disk without the Recycle Bin. Select the file you want to delete, press the "Shift" + "delete" key combination, and then confirm in the confirmation prompt box.
