Mozilla's Firefox browser plugin r2d2b2g has now become a Firefox OS simulator, making it easier for developers and ordinary users to experience the Firefox OS on their desktop browsers. In its official blog, Mozilla says it wants the simulator plug-in to better help developers easily create Firefox OS apps.
At the same time, developers do not need to prepare multiple mobile devices to install new applications that try their own.
How to use:
1. Click here to download the R2D2B2G plugin and complete the installation. (The download comes back with a suffix named. xpi file, just open the Firefox browser, drag the file to the browser page to install.) )
2. After the installation is complete, will automatically turn to the Firefox OS Simulator Control Panel (dashboard), the following figure, click on the upper left "Stopped" button to switch to "Running".
3. You will see an automatic pop-up of the Firefox OS interface, you can operate the virtual interface as on the phone. Phone, contact, SMS and other functions can be viewed, analog dial out the phone number will also have a beep.
The simulator does not simulate the hardware features of mobile devices, but it does allow you to experience some of the other features of the development of the Firefox OS. For example, to install new applications in the application market, open an application to view the application interface.
In the highly competitive mobile operating system market, Symbian is dead, iOS and Android split most of the land and successfully attracted most developers, Windows Phone 8 and the BlackBerry BB 10 will also attract the attention of developers. It remains to be seen whether the Firefox OS can stand out from this crowded market.
