Flash Player content cannot be displayed after Windows update upgrade

One of the new features of Windows XP SP2 is that you can better manage Internet Explorer browser Plug-ins. Specifically, you can disable and enable some ActiveX controls. The icon shown in the following illustration indicates that an ActiveX control used on the current page has been disabled.

If you browse to a page that contains a Flash movie, but you have disabled the Flashactivex control, you will see the icon on the right side of the InternetExplorer status bar.

Solution: Enable ActiveX controls

Follow these steps to enable ActiveX controls that have been disabled in InternetExplorer.

1. In InternetExplorer, select Tools > Manage Add-ins.

2. Look for "ShockwaveFlash object" under the heading "Disable".

3. Select this item and select Enable at the bottom of the dialog box.

4. Click the Update ActiveX button.

5. Click OK to exit the dialog box.

Pop-up window is blocked

If Pop-up Blocker is set to, InternetExplorer automatically blocks pop-up windows created by other windows/scripts. If the Pop-up Blocker is set to High, InternetExplorer also blocks pop-up windows that might appear because you clicked a link.

When InternetExplorer blocks a pop-up window, you hear a warning sound and a golden InfoBar appears. You will also see the following icon in the status bar:

Using the options in the InfoBar, you can temporarily allow pop-up windows, always allow pop-ups from that site, or change your block popup option. If you don't see the InfoBar, you can change the settings by selecting Tools > Block pop-ups from InternetExplorer.
