Last November, I just changed a new job, Ctrip tourism division, is still a visual designer.
In a series of and corporate visual norms of the unified style of minor repairs, I realized that I as a "dead art" to continue to follow the broad troop so go, seemingly can not solve the fundamental problem.
So I'm going to write myself a user test to analyze the problems that appear in the current interface. At the same time can also treat their own lazy cancer, the design blog hurriedly write up. So here we go:
Free-line interface redesign: Search & browse & Order (last article)
Task:
Objective: To find the interface pain point by browsing the order process
Target users: Experienced overseas travel enthusiasts, flexible travel control budget of domestic tourism enthusiasts. (Test 5 people, currently 3 people have completed the test.) )
Specific mission Objective: To order 2 adults a 12-day trip from Shanghai to Las Vegas free line
Test platform: (IOS) version 6.2, (chrome) mobile phone 6.3 version (the following screenshots are all cut from the chrome platform)
Sequenced task tests:
1. Search by Las Vegas as the destination.
2. Browse through multiple travel items and select a free line item.
3. Customize a 2 adult, 12 days, go to the Las Vegas to play free trip
4. Order a round-trip ticket and hotel accommodation within 12 days
Test process:
1. Search by Las Vegas as the destination.
Entrance One: Home-Search page-Search results page
Entrance two: Home-travel Home-search-Search results page
Entrance three: Home-travel Home-free Start Page-search-Search results page
2. Browse through multiple travel items and select a free line item.
3. Customize a 2 adult, 12 days, go to the Las Vegas to play free trip
4. Order a round-trip ticket and hotel accommodation within 12 days
Pain Point Record:
· There are a lot of search entrances, but each one is a little different.
· Sometimes the city name is followed by a national abbreviation code, sometimes not.
· In the case of the same destination, choose a similar itinerary, entered the itinerary Details page, need to modify the length of the trip and the number of times, but can not find a place to modify. You must return to the previous level to select from a custom stroke entry.
· For domestic visitors, it is very difficult to find visa information or special attention on the itinerary details page.
· "After I enter the itinerary confirmation page, it is very difficult to change the length of the itinerary and the date of the hotel, the hotel's choice is divided into several pages, you need to go to the bottom and then step by step to confirm to modify the success." ”
· "I would like to know, when I chose to travel abroad, the first day I chose the hotel check-in date is the date of my flight on the day, I do not see any prompt."
· "When I changed the length of the trip to 12 days, I only chose a hotel, so why is the hotel in a long stay or 1 days, they should be changed together?"
· "When I search for input on the phone, are directly typing, directly by the confirmation, rarely see the hint words, but when I do this, I can not find the task of the tourism project, but to a destination introduction page, but on this page there is no tourism items to choose from. ”
Analysis in Search & browse & Order tasks:
Users: Look forward to the travel/destination features, travel length, price, to quickly select the tourism project
What are some of the things that we can consider in the short term:
In the above test, Task 1 search behavior, the test user in addition to some minor problems (such as city name has no country code, search association Word hint), basically can complete this step task. What needs to be done is to improve the details of this process.
In Task 2, there are some problems with the user experience of the itinerary details page, the features of the itinerary are not very attractive, and there is a lack of visa information and other suggestions that domestic visitors must know. There are information priorities and interaction structures that need to be improved.
In Tasks 3 and 4, if a start date is not selected correctly, it is difficult for the user to modify the length of the trip. In the short term, consider placing this entry in the Itinerary Detail page, and then adjusting the interaction structure later.
Other points to take into account:
Recently read Robbin wrote an article, "Mobile Internet entrepreneurship still need to do app?", some of his ideas I find more interesting, here to intercept some.
"Users commonly used no more than 5 app, micro-letter, Taobao, reviews, news reading is almost, your app to squeeze users to use the long, but also very difficult things." ”
"If we abstract and abstract the user interface of a complete Internet product (whether it is a PC Web product or an app product), abstract to the end, it is three interfaces: Home (first screen), List page, details page (landing page)." These three pages are indispensable, otherwise the product is incomplete. ”
"But in the micro-mail public number, you do the HTML5 application, home page hits are very low, the list pages almost no clicks, only the Details page has a large number of clicks, and the details page is almost no click from the list page, 99% from the micro-trust friends to share direct access. ”
"HTML5 Products own homepage and List page originally is undertakes the detail page entrance and the navigation function, but in the micro-letter, the micro-letter's product architecture undertook the detail page the entrance and the navigation function, the homepage and the list page already did not exist the significance." Micro-credit product architecture and information organization determines that you only need to do a detail page, each or each group of detail pages to complete a separate function, and in each or every group of details within the page to complete all user interaction. ”
You can consider scheduling iterations:
Based on the test results, and the user's habits (which also happen to be our target users), here's a short summary:
1. The current interface to display information is presented from the logic of the resource holder, so it needs to be reshaped in the information architecture. When users want to wander around, a layer of interface plus a complex information architecture makes it very easy for them to get lost in a hierarchy.
2. In the travel itinerary of the same destination, if the travel length provided is not the user's first choice, then the need priority for modifying/Customizing the itinerary should be the order: length of travel (flight round-trip date), length of hotel stay, specific hotel, specific flights, number of travelers.
1 focus on content and information architecture, 2 are highly correlated with information architecture, but focus more on information elements and interaction behavior.
