The following is an overview of the environment required to develop an ArcGIS API for Silverlight, to create an ArcGIS API for Silverlight application that requires at least one installation

Under Microsoft's products:

1. Visual Studio or Visual Web Developer Express 2010

2. Silverlight 4 Tools for Visual Studio (this must be installed if you are using Visual Studio 2010 that did not hit the SP1 patch)

3. Expression Blend SDK for Silverlight 4 (including Expression Blend 4)

Other products, such as deep Zoom Composer and Silverlight Toolkit, do not have to be installed when using ArcGIS API for Silverlight, but

After making sure that all of the above has been installed, the next step is to download the ArcGIS API for Silverlight installation file, which is available in a 2.4 version, under
