GNOME developer Vincent Untz announced the GNOME 3.0 (or GNOME 2.30) plan in its mailing list. The plan focuses on the following three points:
* Revamp our User Experience
* Streamlining of the Platform
* Promotion of GNOME
Common users may be interested in the first point. As a milestone version, GNOME 3.0 has obvious changes. GNOME 3.0 introduces two new core components: GNOME Shell and GNOME Zeitgeist. We have previously introduced GNOME Shell to you and will not go into details here. GNOME Zeitgeist. its home page says it is a tool that allows you to easily browse and find files. There is a video that allows you to intuitively feel this program.
Before GNOME 3.0, another version cannot be avoided. This is GNOME 2.28. GNOME 2.28 is expected to be released in September this year, and its Web rendering engine will be fully migrated from Mozilla/XulRunner to WebKit.
According to the development cycle of a new version of GNOME in six months, GNOME 3.0 is expected to meet you in 2010.
