Google has not released an official Linux client to access its drive from Ubuntu. The open source community has already developed the unofficial package 'grive-tools'.
Grive is a gnu/linux system client for Google Drive ( online storage service ) that allows you to sync The selected directory to the cloud and upload new files to Google drives.
Grive-tools Installation Steps
Step: 1 Add the Grive-tools PPA using the following command:
- # sudo add-apt-repository ppa:thefanclub/grive-tools
Step: 2 Update the list
- #sudo apt-get Update
Step: 3 Install Grive-tools
- # sudo apt-get install Grive-tools
Steps to access Google Drive
Step: 1 Install finished, search for the app by entering grive in Unity Dash and open it.
Step: 2 Log in to Google Drive and you will be asked to access Google Drive.
Click Next to open the Google login page in the new browser
Log in to your Google account and click Accept as follows:
Step: 3 below will provide you with a Google code , copied and pasted into the grive settings box .
When you click Next, you will start syncing Google Drive to the 'GoogleDrive ' folder in your home directory . When you are finished, the following window appears.
The Google Drive folder is created in the user's home directory .
