Google logo birthnotes

In just a few years, Google's logo has become as famous as Nike's marker and NBC's peacock pattern. Ruth Kedar, the Google logo designer, tells us about the birth of the logo representing the Google brand. Sergey Brin and Larry Page, two founders of Kedar and Google, met each other at Stanford University nine years ago through their mutual friends. At that time, she was a TA. Page and Brin were worried about the logo of their upcoming search engine, so they asked Kedar to help design a logo prototype. "At that time, I didn't know that Google would be as ubiquitous as it is now, nor that it would be so successful," Kedar said.

The font used is Adobe Garamond. At first I knew that they wanted a logotype, not just a logo, Kedar said. In the first version, Kedar wanted to keep most of the text unchanged for readability. At the same time, it was more fun to add some basic colors and two-dimensional patterns to the two o characters, the meaning of a pattern represents infinity and infinity (in combination with Google's meaning-translator), Kedar said, brin and page like this pattern because it looks like a Chinese finger (Chinese finger trap-as a Chinese, I have never seen such a thing)

Use the catull font. This time, Kedar is no longer entangled in two o s, but is transformed by one o to make it more latitude. This design eventually creates a long string of O at the bottom of the Google search result page. Cross-cutting means the goal and accuracy. Brin and page hope that Google will have a very clear difference with its competitors and persuade users that the search service provided by Google will be available for life.

The font used is ITC Leawood. "Now let's look at this design again. I feel that Google has gone to the Olympics," Kedar said with a smile. "The implication of the two o s together is that they contain different cultures, search results from different countries. This design is very clever. It was what we explored at that time ."

The font used is catull. In this design, all characters are written in uppercase to bring a more powerful feeling. By changing the character size and color, Kedar still brings a lively atmosphere to the logo. The colors are not arranged in the rainbow color order, so it looks a little unexpected. Kedar said that the design was inadequate because it was too crowded. They liked the magnifier and the cross line, but it was not very good in general.

The font used is catull. This is a duplicate of the previous design idea, but Kedar removes the cross line and keeps the magnifier from revealing the text below. She added a smiling mouth to indicate satisfactory search results. The color of the first and last characters is the same, but there are many changes in the middle. Kedar said that this may imply that Google's search results are similar.

Use the ITC Leawood font. This design approaches Brin's initial concept. With Leawood fonts, projection, and shadow effects, Kedar adds a three-weft feel for the logo, and the logo floats on a clean, large white search page. This design also raises a discussion about how many colors the Google logo will use and how many gradient colors it will take.

Use the catull font. This is a simple start. Kedar explained that our idea is whether we can get a lively feeling without being stuck in any cognitive object. By removing the magnifier, Kedar expands the meaning of the logo, meaning that Google is not just a search engine. By changing the character corners and colors, Kedar tries to show that Google is not a rigid company.

Google 8-end number

Use the catull font. Kedar said that we had more colors, but in the end we used the base color, but it was not distributed in order. We put green on L, which means we are not sticking to the rules.
