Abstract:Data Centers have always been the "trump card" of many big companies and are generally reluctant to show people easily. They also use various means to keep their data centers mysterious. Today, Google began to unveil data centers, and even made a Google Street View to show these data centers around the world. There is a picture of the truth. Let's take a look at what the world's top data centers look like!
The days for Data Center confidentiality are gone forever. Google, which has spent several years trying to maintain the secret of its data center scale, architecture, and energy consumption, has now launched various public relations activities, including photo display and interviews, even a Google Street View was created to show these data centers around the world.
Although Google's data-centric journey is very interesting, the motivation is truly worth thinking about: To publish friendly messages to the press. Last year, Facebook launched the open compute project, which announced the Design of Data Center servers, server rooms, and cooling systems, bringing the data center to an unprecedented level of openness. However, Google relies mainly on the following aspects to build relationships with customers:
- Data Privacy Protection
- Trust
- Save information in the cloud
- Transmit data as needed
Therefore, customers need to feel their preference for Google and Facebook, so the later data center solutions should be more open. In fact, data centers are one of the most competitive factors in cloud computing. To keep pace with the development of cloud computing, Apple has always highlighted its unique cloud operations, but may open the door to data centers; microsoft may also open its own data centers to promote its azure services. Amazon is unlikely to open its own data centers.
As a cloud service provider for large companies like Google and Facebook, the strength of data centers is definitely a good selling point.
The data center may be open to the general public. In the not distant future, high-tech giants around the world will "sell" their own data centers. However, companies like Google still need to protect the customer data of these large data centers. Therefore, do not expect to visit Google's data center quickly. Google only displays images of its eight data centers. It will undoubtedly restrict access to the data center.
