Graphics card model

The most complex part of a video card model should be an English letter after the model. Because it represents that although the video card uses the same graphics core, but the market positioning is different. The most troublesome thing is that the suffixes used by ATI and NVIDIA are not uniform (and cannot be unified), which is dazzling.

Le:

The suffix of the NVIDIA graphics card model. The full name is "Limited Edition", which represents the low-end products in the series. Currently, FX 5700 and 6800 video cards are used.

SE:

The suffix used by the ATI graphics card model. The full name is "Special Edition" (Special Edition), which also represents the low-end products in the series. Generally, the video card with the se suffix only has a 64-bit memory interface, such as 9200 se, 9550 se, 9600 Se, and 9800 Se (this model has 128-bit and 256-bit) and x300 se. Or reduce the number of pixel pipelines (such as 9800 se ).

ZT:

The new NVIDIA model is currently available only for geforce FX 5900zt. ZT represents a market position lower than XT and is the lowest-end product in the series.

XT:

The most confusing model. ATI and NVIDIA graphics cards are both in use. In ATI, it represents the most advanced products in the series, such as 9600 XT, 9800 XT, x800 XT, and x600 XT. NVIDIA uses it as a low-end model, such as 5600xt and 5900xt. Pay attention to this when purchasing.

GT/Pro:

NVIDIA and ATI are used as mid-range graphics card models respectively. Representative Products include 6800 GT, 9600 pro, 9800 pro, x800 pro, etc. The only exception is the new geforce 6600 GT graphics card, which is the most advanced model in the series.

Ultra:

The top-level NVIDIA graphics card models are the same as Ati's "XT" extensions. Representative Products include 6800 Ultra and 5700 Ultra.

Unofficial models:

In addition to the above official models, some video card manufacturers will also customize the standard to launch their own Ultra, GT and other models, such as the products not listed in the video card comparison table in the previous part of this article. It represents the custom standards of some video card manufacturers, not official products. Some vendors also like to use the "extreme" suffix to name graphics cards that increase their working frequency.

For example, radeon 9550 is now the most popular mid-and low-end display card, and manufacturers place great importance on this market. Therefore, radeon 9550 has many unofficial models. The default operating frequency of radeon 9550 is 250/400 MHz (Core/Display memory), and the operating frequency of the special edition of different brands of video cards is also different. The performance of some versions is more than 50% higher than that of the public edition!
Currently, there are more than 20 mainstream display cards on the market, and smart consumers will surely guess that some of them are actually the same. In the past, products that use the same graphics core were labeled with the same digital model and then differentiated by the ZT, Se, and other suffixes. However, nvidia and ATI have recently started playing digital games with different digital model packages for the same graphics core. Although Manufacturers Aim to restructure their product lines, the new and old products appear in the retail market at the same time, but the situation is even more chaotic.

1. ATI

Radeon 9600 → 9550: both are also rv350/360 core products, but the operating frequency is reduced from 9600 MHz of 325/400 graphics card to 9550 MHz of 250/400 graphics card. Due to the same core, most of the radeon 9550 have excellent overclocking capabilities, and the price is only 500 yuan, so it becomes a popular video card. In addition, it should be noted that radeon 9550 has nothing to do with the radeon 9500 launched a year ago, and 9500 uses the r300 core (that is, the core of the 9700 graphics card), with 3D performance more powerful than 9550. Radeon 9200 → 9250: the most confusing product, with a higher model but a lower operating frequency, that is, a slight reduction in the core frequency from 240 MHz to MHz. Perhaps because the reputation of 9200 is not so good, it forces ATI to change the model, but the core design remains unchanged. What is the role?

2. NVIDIA

Geforce FX 5200 → 5500: The competition in the low-end graphics card market seems more intense, and NVIDIA re-wraps FX 5200 in the same way and launches it. The core operating frequency of FX 5500 has increased from 270 MHz to MHz, and other specifications remain unchanged. Fortunately, the price has not increased significantly.
