Environmental conventions

Host machine: Windows 8

Virtual machine Environment: WMware wrokstation 11

Ubuntu version: Ubuntu Desktop 14.04.2

Physical environment:

Notebook ThinkPad T420 i5 CPU 4+4=8g memory, 500G HDD.

Other:

Java version: 7

Hadoop version: 2.7.0

Next, start setting up the virtual machine environment.

Install WMware Workstation 11, VMware will prompt for incompatibility if Hyper-V is installed in the machine that needs to be removed.

Download the ISO image of Ubuntu, here i download the desktop version, the latest stable version is 14.04.2, directly on the Ubuntu official website to download.

Also can choose Ubuntu Server version, mainly is the desktop under the Gedit do some configuration operation is more convenient, if to vim more skilled and do not mind the pure command interface of the words do not matter.

Start installing Ubuntu virtual machines below.

Open VMware and create a new virtual machine.

Using typical configurations:

Select Install later. Problems can occur if some versions are installed directly.

Select the operating system.

Give the virtual machine a name, and then specify the location where the file is stored. Try to keep 20G of storage.

This is the default, but I choose to store the disk as a single file.

Click Finish to exit the settings.

Click on the new virtual machine to set the CD/DVD installation media.

Select the location where you downloaded Ubuntu.

Also in the virtual Machine network configuration interface, it is recommended to disconnect the network, to avoid automatically download patches during the installation process.
