When the camera arrived, it was found that there was not much space left on the system disk C. Looking at drive C, I found that my friends didn't install too many software on drive C and didn't store too many files. After I used the disk cleanup tool to clean up, I only needed about MB of space on drive C, one Win XP has more than 1 GB, and a friend installed less than 3 GB of software and stored files. Where is the other 1 GB space?
The murderer
Select all files under drive C and check the size, which is only 2 GB. In the view of Folder Options, remove the "Hide protected operating system files (recommended)" option and select "show all files and folders" in the "hide and folder" option ". Finally, the problem was found. In the root directory of the C drive, we found that the files hiberfil. sys and pagefile. SYS were surprisingly large. Looking at the size, we found that the two files were more than 700 mb! It seems that they are playing tricks.
Kill the murderer
Let's take a look at the file hiberfil. SYS. Check its size and find it strange in the future. Its size is exactly 256 MB. How can it be the same as the memory size? Coincidence? This is a coincidence, of course not. I found that the file will exist if the sleep function of WINXP is enabled, the system saves the information in the memory to the hiberfil on the hard disk during sleep. sys File to ensure that the system can be restored to the state before sleep. To be honest, XP's sleep function does not really offer any benefit. If it is not compatible with the ACPI of the motherboard, shutdown may be abnormal. You must turn it off, Open Control Panel → power options → sleep, and remove the enable sleep option. At this time, the hiberfil. SYS file disappears under drive C.
Let's take a look at the pagefile. SYS file, which is a system page file (also known as a virtual memory file). Its size depends on the size of the opened Program And the minimum maximum value of the previously set page file is constantly changing, sometimes only dozens of M, sometimes more than M. Since this file has made the system partition tight, we will adjust it to other idle partitions (put the edisk with more than 10 Gb of unused space ). Select "Control Panel> system> advanced", click "set" in the performance area, and select "Advanced> change ", in the open virtual memory settings window, select the partition where the system is located, select "non-paging file" to remove the system partition, and finally select the edisk, if you want to manually set the minimum memory size, select "Custom size". If you want the system to manage the memory size, select "system-managed partitions ".
TIPS: after removing the page file of a partition and setting the page for a partition, click the "Settings" button next to it so that your settings will take effect, you cannot directly click the "OK" button in the window.
After the preceding settings, the hiberfil. sys and pagefile. sys files under drive C disappear, and the system partition space is restored.
