For some older or assembled computers, black screens are relatively prone to faults. There are multiple hardware causes for black screens on the computer, such as damage to the display, damage to the video card, poor contact with the video card, etc. To eliminate black screen faults, a combination of elimination and replacement should be adopted. The basic principle is to first replace computer components with the largest possibility. You can analyze the cause of the fault according to the following steps.
Hardware
I. Check whether computer components are securely inserted
First, check whether the display cable is firmly and reliably inserted into the host interface, and then check whether the contact between the video card and the motherboard I/O slot is good. If necessary, remove the video card and install it again to ensure that the video card is in place and has good contact.
2. Check whether the monitor is damaged.
If the monitor and the video card are securely installed, try another monitor. If the screen is no longer black, the cause is that the display may be damaged.
3. Check whether the fan is faulty.
If the monitor is not damaged, check whether the CPU fan is running. For example, you can use a multimeter to measure whether the voltage output is normal as ± 12 V or ± 15 V. If the voltage output is abnormal, try another power supply.
Iv. Detect CPU, video card, and memory
If a black screen still appears, you can remove all components except the CPU, video card, and memory, and then power up the computer. If the memory is faulty, an alarm should be reported. If this is not the reason for memory usage, change to a normal CPU and start the instance again. If a black screen still appears, you can only change one motherboard. The problem should also occur on the motherboard.
In addition to hardware reasons that cause black screens, there are also three possible reasons for "soft ".
Software
I. Hardware acceleration settings are too high
Hardware acceleration can make software that processes a large number of images run more smoothly, but if the computer hardware acceleration is too high, it may lead to a "black screen" phenomenon. To solve the "black screen" fault, first try to reduce hardware acceleration.
1. Click the "Start" menu of Windows, click "Control Panel", and double-click "display ".
2. Select the "Troubleshooting" tab. Under "Hardware acceleration", drag the slider from "all" to a position close to "NONE.
3. Click OK.
Ii. Disable 3D acceleration or upgrade the graphics card driver
If Windows has been configured for 3D acceleration, but the video card does not support this function, a "black screen" fault may occur when running a game or multimedia program.
1. Click Start, click Run, type dxdiag in the open box, and press Enter.
2. Select the "display" tab and click "test Direct 3D" under "DirectX function" to obtain the correct Direct 3D function.
3. If no Rotated Cube appears on the screen, it indicates that the video card does not support 3D acceleration. Click "Disable" after "Direct 3D acceleration" to disable this function.
If your video card does not support 3D acceleration, you can also contact the video card manufacturer to update the driver to support DirectX 3D acceleration.
Iii. Incompatible driver and video card
The DirectX installer may mistakenly detect the video card and install a driver that is not properly driven. Check whether the driver is correct.
1. Click Start, click control panel, and double-click system ".
2. Select the "hardware" tab, click the "Device Manager" button, click "+" before "display card" or "display adapter", and right-click the display adapter under it, click "properties.
3. Select the driver tab and click the driver details button to display the video card driver in use. If the driver used is not compatible with the video card, click Update driver on the drivers tab and follow the instructions on the screen, install the driver of the new version of the video card.
Through the hard and soft big methods we introduced above, we can basically deal with most of the black screen situations. If one day everyone's machine experiences misfortune, try it out.
