Hyper-V Primary: Hyper-V virtual machine general operations

A. Connecting to the virtual machine and powering on

You can connect to a virtual machine by double-clicking the virtual machine you want to start in Hyper-V Manager or by right-selecting start on the virtual machine you want to start.

If the virtual machine is running then go directly to the virtual machine interface, if the virtual machine has not been run visible to the following screen:

If prompted by the virtual machine, under the Action menu, start or use the power button in the toolbar to start the virtual machine.

You will see a prompt for the word "starting virtual machine" after startup.

Wait a moment to enter the system.

B. Disconnecting and shutting down a virtual machine

The direct shutdown of the Virtual Machine Connection window is disconnected from the virtual machine, but the virtual machine is still running, consumes system resources, displays the virtual machine "running" in Hyper-V Manager, and double-clicking the virtual machine will connect to the interface before the virtual machine shuts down.

There are many ways to shut down a virtual machine, which can be shut down by a normal shutdown mode:

You can also select Close under the Action menu:

or right-click on the virtual machine directly in Hyper-V Manager to select "Off":

All non-system shutdown mode will be prompted when the shutdown, click "Close" to confirm the shutdown system, click "Do not close" cancel the shutdown process. The confirmation process will no longer appear if you check "Don't ask me Again".

In addition to the normal shutdown, the "save" in the above location is similar to the "Hibernate" function in the physical machine, while "forced shutdown" is a direct power off, can be quickly implemented shutdown, but also facing the loss of files to save the situation.

C. Mouse control and full screen mode

By default, when the mouse is pinned to the internal desktop of the virtual machine that cannot be moved, you can release the mouse by using CTRL + ALT + LEFT (the arrow with the cursor).

The shortcut can be changed in the Hyper-V settings. On the right side of the Hyper-V Manager main interface, under Actions, select Hyper-V settings.

Select the available shortcut keys in the right window by selecting the Mouse release button under users in the Pop-up dialog box.

If you feel that it is not very convenient to operate in windowed mode, you can select Full Screen mode (Ctrl + Alt + Pause) under View menu.

After entering full-screen mode, you can return to window mode by restoring the window button above the link bar.

D. Snapshots and restores

The so-called "snapshot", can be simply understood as the usual "restore point." After you set up a snapshot, you can revert to the point in time that you set the snapshot as needed, and changes to the virtual machine after the snapshot will not be retained.

For example, if you need to test whether a software is compatible, or if the downloaded software contains a virus, you can test it after the snapshot is created, and you can restore it through a snapshot if there is a problem.

When you create a snapshot, you can do so by using snapshot (Ctrl + N) under the Actions menu.

When you click "Snapshot", you will be prompted to modify the default name. Click "No" to save the snapshot using the default name; If you need to rename the snapshot, enter the name of the snapshot and click "Yes". If "Always use default name" is checked, the dialog box will not pop up and saved directly with the default name. (Default name format: Virtual machine name-current date, time)

In Hyper-V Manager, under the snapshot category, the saved snapshots are arranged in chronological order. For example, the third behavior takes the default name for the saved result, and the fourth row is the snapshot that is saved after the name is renamed.

When the corresponding snapshot is selected, you can see a classification named after the snapshot under snapshot, under which you can view the preview, save time, memory information, and network information of the virtual machine when the snapshot is saved.

Right-click on the snapshot name to rename and delete the snapshot. Delete snapshot means that only the selected snapshot is deleted; Delete snapshot subtree indicates that all snapshots after the selected snapshot and its point in time are deleted.

For example, to delete the results of a snapshot subtree on the default naming method (Hyper-V Windows 8–2012/12/18–22:13:31):

If you need to restore a saved snapshot, you can select Restore from the Action menu in the linked virtual machine.

After you confirm the restore, you can restore the virtual machine to the snapshot state at the most recent point in time.

A linked virtual opportunity to see the prompt being restored. Wait a moment to see the virtual machine's picture back to the snapshot point in time.

Alternatively, under snapshot classifications in Hyper-V Manager, right-click on the specified snapshot to select Apply to restore to the specified snapshot point in time.

When you confirm the application, selecting get snapshot and apply will save the snapshot for the current virtual machine state as the default name and restore the virtual machine to the selected point-in-time snapshot, or select Apply to restore only the virtual machine without generating a snapshot.

Select the snapshot as "Get snapshot and apply" after the new snapshot is generated.

In addition, you can select settings to view the virtual machine properties of a snapshot point when you right-click on the snapshot.

E-screen

When a linked virtual machine is running, you can use capture screen (Ctrl + C) under the Clipboard menu to display the contents of the current VM.

The point is that you can intercept images that are not available on some hosts, such as:

The captured screen will be saved in the Clipboard, and if you need to save it, you can open the paint tool and paste it before saving.
