KVM, short for Kernel-basedVirtualMachine, is a Kernel-based virtual machine. It was an Israeli company named Qumranet acquired by RedHat in September. It started with a virtualization technology. KVM has not been in the virtualization field for a long time. How will it develop in the future. In this issue, we interviewed two members of the OVA open virtualization alliance, Red Hat and IBM, to hear their opinions on KVM.
KVM, short for Kernel-based Virtual Machine, is a Kernel-based Virtual Machine. It was an Israeli company named Qumranet acquired by RedHat in September. It started with a virtualization technology. KVM has not been in the virtualization field for a long time. How will it develop in the future. In this issue, we interviewed two members of the OVA (Open Virtualization Alliance) Open Virtualization Alliance, Red Hat and IBM, to hear their opinions on KVM.
Speaking of the Development of KVM, Pan yinglin, president of RedHat Greater China, said that the first KVM community had only dozens of members to discuss the technology above. The addition of Red Hat has led to a rapid growth of community members. The OVA was launched to attract more people to focus on KVM technology, whether it is a vendor or an end user. "We hope that all virtualization enthusiasts will join in and grow together in a competitive environment to accelerate the development of virtualization technology. We will make greater efforts to expand the ecosystem and bring more ISVs into the circle ."
Pan yinglin, president of RedHat Greater China
Regarding the development of cloud computing in China, Pan yinglin said that traditional IT is undergoing a fundamental change. Cloud development is customer-centric. with the ever-changing market, IT vendors must gradually change their mindset. The vendor-led situation will not be returned, and customers will gradually participate. China's cloud computing development is in a status of differentiation. First, large group enterprises, such as communications and finance, will take the lead in introducing the cloud computing model for IT transformation, some small and medium-sized enterprises will be more cautious in choosing the cloud because of their current maturity and scale. However, China's cloud computing development momentum is very strong. I believe that in the near future, using KVM and OVA will further accelerate the implementation and implementation of the cloud.
For the cooperation between IBM and RedHat, Inna Kuznetsova, director of Strategy and Business Development for IBM Linux and Power, said that RedHat and IBM have been cooperating for many years. Red Hat has established a long-term strategic partnership with IBM since its early application of Red Hat Linux software on the IBM mainframe, OVA and KVM technical cooperation. It is understood that most of IBM's platforms use KVM as the core technical support, and IBM's use of KVM as the core technology is not on the rise, IBM's cooperation with the Red Hat Linux system is not a day or two, using KVM can reduce the compatibility problems of some users in the later stages and improve the IT delivery capability of enterprises faster.
Inna Kuznetsova, director of IBM Linux and Power System Strategy and Business Development
As a member of the OVA Committee, Inna pointed out the original intention and goal of OVA: "There must be competition between manufacturers. Only competition can make progress, the market can grow bigger, and the ecosystem can do well, this is a good thing. At present, IT and services are getting very close, and mutual cooperation will generate greater explosive power and market impetus. KVM is a good cloud computing kernel. IBM and RedHat jointly establish an open-source virtualization alliance. We are working together and actively committed to the construction and promotion of the open-source virtualization alliance, we believe that the future development of KVM will be better, and the development of virtualization technology will be better."
Finally, both parties said they would continue to work on the construction and promotion of the OVA open-source virtualization alliance, and will continue to work on cloud computing to jointly promote the development of cloud computing in the China region.
