Application Runtime Expert for I (hereinafter referred to as are) allows the user to establish templates for verifying application and System properties on the IBM I system. This article will introduce you to the deployment Template editor--Web user interface for building and managing deployment templates. Before that, let me introduce you to some of the relevant terms; In particular, to clarify you what is a "deployment template"?
Let's take a look at the term "deployment (Deployment)" and try to understand its exact meaning. Deployment refers to a collection of properties about the software and its operating environment. Typically, the deployment we refer to is:
Any IBM I product
Any application on IBM i
ISV applications or applications developed for internal use only
WebSphere Application Server Application
Integrate WEB application Server
RPG application
A directory tree (directory trees)
Software customization options, system and environment information
In short, a deployment (deployment) refers to an application, system, and other operational environment information that you intend to validate. So a template (template) is a collection of information about the deployed applications, systems, and running environments. The template contains the expected attribute value for the current deployment, typically the associated property value when the deployment is in good working condition. The property information in the template may include access rights to the object, file attributes, configuration information, current system values (systematic values), PTF levels, and other information. Once you have created the template using Deployment Template Editor, you can use it to verify the same conditions on the current IBM I or other IBM I systems.
All the information required for validation is contained in this template (Template).
Before you start the deployment template, another issue that needs to be understood is how the template was built and how it is used to authenticate the system. Figure 1 shows you a visualization diagram of the deployment template setup process.
