Setup and Configuration Overview:

You do not need to install a floppy disk when you set up and install the CD using Serverguide. You can use the CD to configure any supported IBM server models. The Setup program provides a list of tasks required to install the server model. On servers with ServeRAID adapters or integrated SAS controllers with RAID capabilities, you can create logical drives at the stage of configuring the array.

Attention:

1, using Serverguide CD installation will erase the partition and data on the hard disk, if you have to retain the data, please back up or choose another installation method,

2, Serverguide CD-ROM does not include operating system programs, please prepare a genuine Windows operating system CD.

The following is an example of installing the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Enterprise version operating system through the Serverguide boot installation CD:

3. This machine requires a USB optical drive without optical drive, press F12 after booting, select CD/DVD to start

1, start the server with Serverguide CD, there will be a few minutes of the boot process, please wait.

Select the language using this boot disk (note: The language is the Serverguide bootstrapper language, regardless of the operating system to be installed), the following screen appears, select "Chinese"

2, select the screen of the keyboard layout, select "UnitedStates" Here, then click "NEXT":

3. Chinese users can select Chinese to read the Chinese protocol in the language option.

The License Agreement screen appears, read the contents of the License agreement, click "I accept" to continue:

4, review the overview to understand the serverguide features, please carefully review the relevant instructions before use, click "NEXT" to continue:

5, here you can select the operating system you want to install, select and click "NEXT":

6. After setting the correct date and time, click "NEXT":

7. Enter the array configuration phase at this time:

(1), if the server is not configured over the array, as shown:

The upper-right part of the midline displays information about the empty array, the number of hard disks, and the current array. In the case of array card support and sufficient number of hard disks, there will be some configurable array levels available under Select Raidlevel Options. If you do not need to configure the array, you can select the middle "Bypass raidconfiguration" option, and then click "NEXT" to continue.

Optional Array level Description:

Raiddefaults: Configure array by default (1 HDD default configuration volume,2 block HDD default configuration raid1,3 block above HDD default configuration RAID5)

RAID 0: Configure 1 Raid0 with all available hard drives

RAID 1: Configure 1 RAID1 with the first 2 drives

RAID 10: Configure 1 RAID10 with the first 4 drives

RAID 5: Configure 1 RAID5 with all available hard drives

RAID 1+RAID1: Use the first 2 hard drives to configure 1 RAID1, then use the next 2 hard drive configuration 1 Raid1

RAID 1+RAID5: Use the first 2 hard drives to configure 1 RAID1, then use the remaining hard drives to configure 1 RAID5

ADD hotsopare: If checked, a hard disk will be used as a hot backup drive by default

After the configuration is finished, the status will display completed, then click "NEXT" to continue.

After the configuration is complete, the status displays completed:

(5), after the configuration is completed click "NEXT" to continue, if not done any array operation, then will enter the 8th step. If an array operation is done, it will enter the following:

Tip Serverguide need to restart the server to initialize the array, click "NEXT" reboot, please wait for serverguide reboot, do not do any action.

8. Enter the partition and file system type selection as shown, and be careful not to have less than 8G of capacity when partitioning: (at this point the value entered is the capacity of the system partition, that is, the capacity of the C drive; the remaining space appears in the system Disk Management in an unpartitioned state)

Note: By default, Serverguide clears all partitions and data on the first hard disk or on the logical drive of the first array. If clear Alldisks is selected, the data on the hard disk and the array is cleared. If you have important data on other hard disks, it is recommended that you back it up first.

9. Click "NEXT" to perform the creation of the partition and format the operation, the completion will show:

10. Click "NEXT" to enter the following, showing some details of the server:

Check that the server is configured with error, then click "NEXT":

11. Start setting up the relevant configuration for Windows installation:

Enter the user name, computer name and serial number on the following screen, and note "Product id*" to enter

Serial number of the Windows operating system CD (Note: Fields marked with * are required);

12. Select the server's network settings:

13, select the settings of the network card, you can press the system's default network card type first installed, to be installed after the operating system can be changed:

14, select the number of license WIN2003 system:

15, enter the operating system language and national settings interface,

In the time zone item Selection "(gmt+08:00) Beijing, Chongqing,hong Kong, Urumqi"

Select "Chinese (PRC)" In the main language item;

Select "SimplifiedChinese" in the second language item, the other speech items are canceled;

(Note: If the installed Windows is Simplified Chinese version, you must follow the above options to change, otherwise the system will be garbled after installation);

16. Select the Windows component you want to install on the following screen, or install it after you have installed the system, and click "NEXT" to continue:

17, Serverguide will be prompted to copy the Windows related driver and installation files, click "NEXT" to continue:

18. After the data copy is complete, prompt the following information, click "NEXT" to continue:

19, Serverguide CD will automatically eject, you need to replace with the operating system selected at the beginning of the corresponding Windows CD, click "NEXT" to continue:

20, after inserting the Windows CD, will automatically search, find the disc will have the interface, if the disc does not match, you will be prompted to reinsert the disc.

21, read the Microsoft End-User License use manual after the selection of "Iagree" (note: Here is possible to see is garbled, the reason is that the current Serverguide disc does not come with Chinese font, but the system will not be garbled after installation)

22. Start copying Windows installation files:

Follow the on-screen request to remove the Windows CD, then click "NEXT" to confirm restarting the server, then the server will enter the unattended installation, so serverguide the CD configuration process is complete. The period will be restarted several times without intervention, please wait.
