IBM x3650 M4 Server installs Windows Server R2 Enterprise

Background of the project:

    Howard Co., Ltd. needs to install a Windows system on the IBM x3650 M4 server as a test machine for backup due to the expansion of business projects.



Installation time: 2014-10-17

Installation location: Chongqing XX machine room



Ready to work:

First, there are several ways to install the system: U disk installation, CD installation, IBM boot disk installation, etc. Here I use IBM boot disk installation.

You need to download the operating system installation boot disk of the IBM server from the Internet yourself. The download address is:

Burn the downloaded ISO boot file to a CD, and then put the CD into the CD-ROM drive.



Installation process:

1. Start the machine and see the following interface;




2. Wait a moment, see the following interface, press F1 to enter the server BIOS setup page;




3. Select "Boot Manager" and press Enter;




4. Select boot from CD / ROM, wait for a while, see the figure below.






5. Wait a moment, see the figure below, and select the keyboard mode;



6. Click "Next" in the above figure, see the interface shown in the figure below, and select I accept




7, click "Next"

 


8. Click "Next", as shown in the figure below. The operating system selected here must be the same as the operating system in the system disk, and the version must be the same




9. Click "Next" to set the time;



10. Click "Next" to enter the RAID configuration page. Since RAID5 has been done on this server before, I chose "Keep Current Adapter Configuration" here to keep the current configuration.

 


11. Click "Next", as shown in the figure below.




12. Click “Next” to set the partition size (ie C drive) and file system for storing system files. Here I set the C drive size to 500G and the file system to NTFS format.




13. Click "Next", wait a few minutes, the system will format the C drive just created;




14. After the format is completed, the overall configuration information is displayed.



15. Click "Next", the system will start to copy the driver of the corresponding system, wait a few minutes;




16. After the driver copy is completed, the CD-ROM drive will pop up automatically and prompt to insert the system installation disk, as shown in the figure below;




17. Remove the boot disk, insert it into the system disk, and click "Next", the system will automatically find the operating system selected previously, as shown in the figure below;



18. Once found, the system will prompt to click "Next" to continue, as shown below;




19. Select installation language, time setting, keyboard setting;

20. Click "Next" and select "I Agree"



21. The system starts the installation process and automatically installs the operating system without human intervention.


The installation is complete:

During the installation process, there will be several restarts to complete the system installation. After the system installation is completed, the first startup will be slow. When entering the system, you need to check whether the system drivers are all installed (focus on checking the network card driver, preferably the machine can access the Internet), Activate. The system that has just been installed will have only one C drive. Users can divide other unallocated space according to their application requirements. The specific operation location is right-click Computer-Management-Disk Management;
