IBM's chief Software architect MILLS:IBM has its own Java ____java

Steve MILLS:IBM, IBM's chief Software architect, will be worried for a long time about Oracle's heavy-handed approach to Java authorization.

Last week Interarbor Solution chief analyst Dana Gardner with IBM Chief software designer Steve Mills about Oracle's acquisition of Sun and the future of Java. Mills believes Oracle, Sun's takeover deal will pass, but Mills also believes that Oracle CEO Larry Ellison bought Sun because he did not "understand the hardware business of Sun", Oracle proposed the price per share $9.50 to buy Sun is too bad for the bargain.

Perhaps Mills (in the main screen of JavaOne, the speaker, Jonathan Schwartz, Sun's chief executive) wanted to say why IBM did not buy Sun.

In the future of Java, Mills (IBM) believes that Java will be reborn after Oracle acquires Sun, while IBM will have a long time to worry about Oracle's heavy-handed approach to Java authorization. Gardner also observed an interesting phenomenon: IBM had already written for Sun, IBM's own Java, which was used on IBM's server implementations, and that's why Apache Harmony was considered "Sun's Java Replica" [1].

Perhaps if Oracle fails to buy sun, other companies will not be willing to buy sun, and sun will collapse and the assets will be auctioned off.
