Cause Analysis
To improve performance, the system caches all icons in a file in advance, so that you do not have to read the icons of all programs each time you start the system. The reason is that the Icon cache file is damaged. You can solve the problem by recreating the Icon cache.
Solution
Method 1: Delete the Icon cache file
1. in Windows XP, delete C: \ Documents and Settings \ USERNAME \ Local Settings \ Application Data \ IconCache. db file. In Windows 7, delete C: \ Users \ USERNAME \ AppData \ Local \ IconCache. db file. 2.

Method 2: Change the Icon size.
1. for Windows XP, right-click the blank area on the desktop and select "properties". 1. IconCache. db is a hidden file. Please first show the hidden file in "Folder Options.
