IE11 surpassed IE8 for the first time to become the world's most popular browser

According to foreign media reports, the market research agency Net Applications released the latest November global browser market share distribution report on Monday. According to the report, the overall share of Microsoft's IE browser increased slightly in the previous month to 58.94%, while Chrome and Firefox both declined by 20.57% and 13.26%, respectively. IE6, the "most hated by developers and users", fell below the 1% mark for the first time.

The following shows the market share of the five mainstream browsers in March:

  • Internet Explorer: an increase of 0.45 age points to 58.94%.

  • Chrome: It fell 0.68 age points to 20.57%.

  • Firefox: Down 0.65 age points to 13.26%.

  • Safari: an increase of 0.80 age points to 5.90%.

  • Opera: an increase of 0.05 age points to 0.88%.

If you split IE into different versions, you will find that the latest three versions all show an increasing market share rate, while earlier versions have shrunk. Among them, IE11 increased by 1.44 percent in the previous month to 25.49%; IE10 increased by 1.45 age points to 7.54%; IE9 increased by 0.46 age points to 9.14%; IE8 fell by 2.20 age points, up to 15.11%.

Last month, IE11 surpassed IE8 for the first time to become the world's largest browser, and now the gap between the two is further widening. This trend is formed, or mainly because the Windows XP market share continues to decline. This system can only be upgraded to IE8 ).

One of the most gratifying discoveries in the IE market is that IE6 browsers with the title "most hated by developers and users" continue to drop by 0.72 age points last month, to 0.96% -- the first time fell below the integer mark of 1%.

To speed up the exit of IE6, Microsoft even launched an "IE6countdown" Countdown website to track the browser usage in various regions around the world. Today, only a few regions in the world still have high IE6 usage, while China is still the worst.

Based on different versions of Chrome and Firefox, we can also find that the market share of newer versions is generally higher than that of earlier versions. This kind of good upgrade is mainly because the two browsers are embedded with an automatic upgrade mechanism. However, since Chrome 39 was released in late November and has not been listed for a long time, the current market share is only 0.93%. Lu Xin)
