IE6's Chinese sorrow

A text message was posted on the mobile phone newspaper a few days ago, saying that after the release of Internet Explorer 6 for more than a decade, the biggest share of Chinese browsers is Internet Explorer 6. In the world, although Microsoft is still the leader with IE7, IE8, And the ie9 to be launched, Firefox has increased its share in recent years, as well as opera, Apple Safari, and Google Chrome, the browser market has already been around.

The proportion of Internet Explorer users in China is higher than that in other countries. This is easy to understand because Microsoft's market strategy and our education system are basically based on the Microsoft Windows platform, therefore, Internet Explorer bound to the operating system is widely used. For example, many of our banks rely heavily on Internet Banking and online payments. Many users of Linux or apple systems can find alternative software for most applications. However, once domestic online banking is used, there is no way to switch to a Windows machine. Even more talented people, they have installed virtual machines on other systems to run Windows, which is specifically used to solve the problem of online banking. I know a friend of a network security company and even remotely operate the Windows Server managed by the company's machine room to use online banking.

Ye Zhiqiu, look at our side, it is easy to know the impact of IE (6. The official websites and OA of many companies can only be displayed under ie. If they are changed to Firefox or other browsers that strictly support W3C standards, the interface will be messy. Why? This is because website developers only use IE to test the tool. Microsoft made a lot of fault tolerance when developing IE to be compatible with those webpages with errors. From the perspective of program development, this is good. However, if we only use IE as the web development and testing browser, many of our web pages do not comply with W3C standards. In turn, for normal use, we only use IE. In comparison, a company's new SAP crm7.0 portal page last year can only be displayed under IE6, and browser interfaces such as IE8, Firefox, and opera will be messy. I still don't understand it. Is it because of the SAP portal or the level of developers !?

The reason why IE6 accounts for more than 50% of its usage in China is as follows:

1. china has a loose environment for version D, a flood of compatible machines and copybooks, and a variety of Windows XP versions with in-depth optimization (famous for example, tomato garden). XP is bound to IE6;

2. many of our website developers and artists come out of the fast-growing computer schools (there is no discrimination, and many of them are self-taught experts, the development of many portal websites is still very standard), because the development environment during learning is basically just testing on IE and then OK, IE has a strong fault tolerance feature for many webpages that do not comply with W3C specifications, especially IE6. Therefore, IE6 is easy to use. Many domestic browsers are also developed with IE6 as the core. After IE8, they become unstable and prone to crashes. For the user, no matter which one is "good", it will be used.

3. Problems with habits, such as menu changes and multi-tab design, make many people who are used to IE6 and do not want to upgrade. If you are not buying a machine, Vista and win7 are used. You only need to discard IE6. However, the popular netbook configuration in China is still reliable with IE6 in XP.

In conclusion, why do I think IE6's domestic share is quite sad? In addition to the proliferation of dashboard, more importantly, our technological innovation lags behind the development source, which in turn affects users, especially students. The reason why IE6 is very useful in China is that other browsers are more standard and more standard, while many of our web pages and network applications are not standardized and rigorous, so we only use ie6. In this regard, we can see that many industries in China have such problems. Everyone is very impetuous. They do not want to keep improving their technologies, and they are talking about the market, we are just like one, and Chinese people refer to this as China's core competitiveness. But it just looks like a lot. Isn't it sad that the hardware and software in the middle are terrible? To solve these problems, you may need to look for reasons in terms of intellectual property rights and the education system, but this is beyond my knowledge.
