One-Windows VM extended disk space
1) vmworkstation 6.5 and previous versions
Use the following command Vmware-vdiskmanager-x 40GB MYDISK.VMDK
2) Vmworkstation 7 and later versions can use Method 1, or you can operate directly in the UI, as follows,
Use the expand under utilities in hard disk in virtual machine settings:
Modify directly to the new disk size in the Expand dialog box
3) vsphere
After vsphere client is logged in, it is modified directly in hard disk in virual machine setting, as follows
Note: When there is a snapshots, or virtual machine use linked clone, it will be an error, you need to use VMware Converter to transform.
4) After the operation of 1 or 2) or 3, the disk has been increased, but it is not visible in the virtual machine and needs to be extended volume operations in Computer Management-Disk Management for the virtual machine
Expansion of unallocated disk, after expansion as follows
Two Linux VM virtual machine extended disk space
(1) Increase the operation of the disk similar to the operation of the Windows VM 1), 2, 3).
(2) After the increase into the system can not see the new disk, you need to do the following steps (3).
(3) Start the Linux operating system under the VM environment, add new partition, need root account identity.
The 3.1 "fdisk-l" Maximum partition is/dev/sda3, which indicates that the newly created partition will be SDA4
3.2 Input "FDISK/DEV/SDA"
3.2.1 The command prompt, enter "M".
3.2.2 Enter the command "n" to add a new partition.
3.2.3 Enter the command "P" to create the primary partition.
3.2.4 Enter "carriage return" and choose the default size, which does not waste space
3.2.5 Enter "Return" and select the default start cylinder.
3.2.6 Enter "W" to keep the modification
3.3 Input "reboot" reboot Linux, must be reboot, otherwise/DEV/SDA4 cannot be formatted.
3.4 Then in the/dev/directory, you can see the new partitions such as/DEV/SDA4
3.5 "MKFS.EXT2/DEV/SDA4" format
3.6 Create the Disk4 directory under the root directory
3.7 "mount/dev/sda4/disk4/" to mount the partition on the/disk4/
3.8 in vim Modify/etc/fstab file, add "/dev/sda4/disk4 ext2 defaults 0 0" line, and save, realize boot automatically mount.
At this point, the new increase in disk space capacity, can be reflected on the DISK4, and reboot automatically mount the partition, additional disk space work completed.
Third, add new disk space
If the current disk is not scalable, you can use the method of increasing the disk, in the VM main interface, select the "VM" drop-down menu, select "Settings", add a disk in the way, and then enter the system to add a new disk, similar to the operation above, no longer repeat.
