Article Title: Incremental Backup Using rsync in linux. Linux is a technology channel of the IT lab in China. Includes basic categories such as desktop applications, Linux system management, kernel research, embedded systems, and open source.
For system administrators, the focus of their work should be on maintaining the normal operation of the system and providing services normally. A data backup problem is often involved here, as I know, 80% of system administrators do not care too much about the security of their servers. However, they are often quite interested in the backup image technology, however, because the software and hardware prices of commercial products are quite high, free software is often chosen. Rsync is such a software that can meet the vast majority of backup requirements that are not particularly high. It is suitable for storing and backing up massive and small files. Combined with the disk array technology of the server itself, it can effectively enhance data security.
Server Requirements:
Server (server) for file backup: 192.168.10.2 (RHEL 5)
Server (client) receiving backup files: 192.168.10.3 (RHEL 5)
Functions:
Use rsync to incrementally back up the accounts directory and conf directory of the turbomail mail server.
Accounts Directory: directory used to store user-related information
Conf directory: directory for storing user configuration files
Prerequisites:
Install the turbomail email system first (the operations on the server and client are the same)
The installation process is as follows:
1. mount the optical drive: mount/dev/cdrom
2. Copy the turbomail installation package to the following directory/
# Cd/dev/cdrom
# Cp turbomail_linux_x86_xxx.tgz
3. decompress the turbomail installation package
Tar? Zxvf turbomail_linux_x86_xxx.tgz
4. Start turbomail
# Cd/turbomail
#./Starttm. sh
# Cd/turbomail/web/bin/
#. /Startup. sh 5. Modify the startup script/etc/rc. d/rc. local: add the following lines to enable the email server automatically after it is started: #/turbomail/starttm. sh & #/turbomail/web/bin/startup. sh & #/turbomail/safestart. sh &
The rsync configuration is as follows:
1. server-side rsync configuration: Use the rsync tool that comes with the system, insert the system boot disc, and install the rsync tool through rpm.
If the source code package is used for installation, upload the installation package to the server 1) tar? Zxvf rsyncrsync-2.6.9.tar.gz # extract 2) cd rsyncrsync-2.6.9 3)./configure # default configuration to generate the compiling environment
