Industrial design, as a new specialty of Beihang University, was established in 1998. Affiliated with the industrial design specialty of the Academy of Engineering, unlike the industrial design majors in art schools, the knowledge we learn is more emphasis on the study of engineering, and course on art and design will be promoted at the same time.
In the process of volunteering, I chose Beihang University's first major is industrial design major. For me personally, as a good designer, is my dream. I think, the design can be a combination of people and nature, so as to create a person to adapt to the natural products, for the benefit of mankind, and close to life, in the design at the same time, give the product to the color of the art, it adds to the fun of life, to people with spiritual pleasure.
After nearly a semester of college life, for industrial design major, I have a deeper level of understanding. First of all, I have a more structured understanding of the concept of industrial design. Industrial Design (industrial) is a creative activity carried out by humans to achieve a specific purpose, which is contained in the process of the formation of all artificial objects. With the development of modern science and technology, the advent of knowledge society, the evolution of innovative forms, industrial design is also the work of professional designers to a wider range of users to participate in the evolution of user-centric, user participation in innovative design is increasingly concerned about the user experience as the core of industrial design innovation model is gradually formed. From the complete concept of industrial design, I can understand that industrial design, unlike other artistic design, such as clothing design, jewelry design, subjective design, focusing on the meaning of the design itself, without the need to focus on the customer's needs, this is the industrial design is different from this place. Industrial design, not only includes the designer's own subjective design, more important is to meet the needs of customers, if a product, can not meet the requirements of customers, then the design of the product is just empty text, no value said. With the development of the Times, industrial design tends to take the user as the core design form. In addition, the design not only to meet the user's standards, or users themselves can be as designers, at this time, the real designers have played a role, the user's needs and art combined, so that life innovation, change the user's old inconvenient life.
After analyzing the concept of industrial design, this paper discusses the analysis of the course of industrial design in Beihang University. Beihang University is a school of science and Engineering, for industrial design major, will also be affected by its emphasis on the study of homework. Major in industrial design, affiliated with the College of Mechanical engineering and automation. In a freshman sophomore course, not only with other professional students to learn basic courses, such as advanced mathematics, C language programs, engineering drawings and other courses, we also have to learn the sketch, color and some computer-aided design courses, in order to enhance the art of cultivation, and lay the foundation for future design. It is said that the technical design of the Beihang University is not more than the level of art colleges, indeed, after all, we are relying on the results of the cultural class came to Beihang, and even most of the students in the past have not been exposed to art courses, but we have their own characteristics. First of all, our cultural class results are much higher than art students, in the rational thinking and logic is better than them, and we have a comparative advantage in design analysis, we can use the physics and mathematics learned to analyze a product's operability and availability, and through data analysis to assess the value of the product. Second, the ultimate goal of industrial design is to meet customer needs, then the design diagram is only one of the links, the design diagram is important to express our ideas and innovation, I believe that after four years of study, in the design of the drawing we will not drop the number of art students, It's just that we know how to use the brushes in our hands to express our creative ideas in our hearts. After careful analysis and discussion with seniors, I personally think that the industrial design of Beihang University has a promising future, I can cut from another area of design, to create a design with the characteristics of the Beihang University, using our advantages to design to develop.
Industrial design, covering a wide range, including product design, environmental design, packaging design, advertising design, binding design, interactive design and so on. It can be said that industrial design everywhere, from our usual use of mobile computers, and even indoor furniture, usually used pens, to our usual life necessary means of transport, such as private cars,
Bicycles, etc., are within the scope of industrial design. After four years of study, each student can choose their favorite development direction for development, engaged in different design work.

Thus, the industrial design profession in the future is a very hot professional, because our life everywhere needs to design, everywhere needs innovation, everywhere needs progress.
Can say, I was very fortunate, admitted to their favorite professional, for the future to become a designer to lay the foundation, I think I will learn every course, I hope in the near future, I can achieve their dreams, design to meet customer needs and creative products.
