Install Mac OS on Vmware

This article will show you how to install and run Mac OS X in a virtual machine, as long as you follow this tutorial step-by-step, and you can install and run Mac OS X smoothly, even if you don't know your Apple reader.

First, the preparatory work
Second, install VMware and patching

Install VMware. Unzip the VMware installation package, double click on the installer Vmware-workstation-full-12.1.0-3272444.exe, and click "Next" or "Next ". Restart your computer after the installation is complete.

Patch VMware. Because VMware does not natively support the installation of Mac OS X, a patch is required to install Mac OS X. Unzip unlocker, right-click Win-install.cmd and select "Run as Administrator" (1). Windows will pop up a command-line window and the command-line window will automatically close when the patch is ready.

Double-click the VMware Pro icon on your desktop to start VMware. Click menu "File" → "New virtual machine", as shown in 2.

VMware requires you to select the type of virtual machine, select Typical (recommended) (typical (recommended)), 3. Then click "Next" (next).

Next, VMware asks you to specify the installation CD for the operating system, and select "Setup CD image (ISO)" (Installer disc image file (ISO)), as shown in 4.

Then click "Browse" to pop up the Open File dialog box, shown in 5. First, change the file type in the lower right corner of the dialog box to "Any file (*. *)" (* *), and then select the lazy version of the installation package OS X 10.11.1 (15b42) that you just downloaded back. CDR, and then click Open.

Note: Be sure to download the lazy version of the installation package in the format ISO or CDR. VMware can identify the image files in both formats. If you are neat, you can download the original installation package, in the format of DMG, and then use Transmac to write the DMG image files on the USB stick, make the installation of USB flash drive, and then install in VMware. This approach is too complex and is not covered in this tutorial.

Then click Next, and VMware lets you select the operating system of the virtual machine. Select Apple Mac OS x, and then set version to OS x 10.11, as shown in 6. Then click "Next" (next).

VMware lets you specify the location of the virtual machine, as shown in 7. Select the default settings. However, you will need to record the location of the virtual machine and use it later . Click "Next" (next).

VMware lets you specify a virtual disk, as shown in 8. "Maximum disk size (GB)" (Maximum disk size (GB)) must be set at least 60GB, and then select "Split virtual disk into multiple files" (split vdisk into multiple files). This can facilitate the transfer of virtual machines, reduce disk fragmentation, and reduce the probability of virtual disk errors. Then click "Next".

VMware lets you confirm the hardware configuration of the virtual machine, as shown in 9. The default allocation of memory is too small, we need to adjust, so to click on "Custom Hardware" (Customize Hardware), the virtual machine memory set to 4GB (4096MB), 10 is shown.

Note: According to the author's experience, to run Mac OS X, the virtual machine must have at least 4 GB of memory, in order to run the virtual machine smoothly, your computer (host) must have at least 6GB of memory. The author's computer has 12GB of memory.

Then, in the dialog shown in Figure 10, click Close to return to the dialog shown in Figure 9, and then click Finish.

At this point, VMware enters the virtual machine page, as shown in 11.

If you click on "Turn on the virtual machine" in Figure 11,VMware will make an error . This is because the virtual machine's hidden parameters are set incorrectly and you have to modify them manually.

This tutorial once asked you to record the location of the virtual machine in the dialog box shown in Figure 8, and open this location with the explorer. Then open Notepad and use your mouse to drag the OS X 10.11.vmx file into the Notepad window, as shown in 12. If you don't remember, the location of the virtual machine is typically in the C:\Users\ (your user name) \virtual Machines folder or in the My Documents \virtual machines folder. You can also find the "*.vmx" file using the search function, which is easy to find.

Locate smc.present = "TRUE", and add a row after it, as shown in smc.version = 0, 12. Save exit.

Then, you go back to VMware and click on the "Turn this VM on" shown in Figure 11, and the virtual machine will start normally.

Next, you'll start installing Mac OS x!

Iv. Installing Mac OS X

Back to VMware, click on the "Turn this VM" (Power on), shown in Figure 11, and the virtual machine starts normally with a white apple on a black background, 13 shown, patiently waiting for the progress bar to finish.

On the Virtual machine screen, the Welcome screen appears, and select "Use Simplified Chinese as the primary language", as shown in 14. Then click the right arrow in the circle at the bottom of the dialog box.

The virtual Opportunity displays the dialog box shown in 15. Here we can't just click "Continue" to install Mac OS X, because we haven't erased the virtual machine's hard drive yet. Mac OS X's "erase" (erase) and Windows ' format ' are synonyms. You will need to click "Utilities" → "disk Utility" on the menu bar at the top of the screen to start Disk utility.

"Disk Utility" is shown in 16. First select "Vmware Virtual SA ..." In the left column and click "Erase" in the toolbar.

The system pops up with a dialog box, shown in 17. Specify a name for the virtual hard disk, such as "OS X 10.11", "format" select "OS X Extended (journaled)", "scheme" select "GUID Partition Map" and click "Erase".

Wait for the progress bar to finish, then click "Done", shown in 18. Then click on "Disk Utility" → "exit" on the menu bar at the top of the screen and go back to the interface shown in 15 and click "Continue".

Mac OS x requires you to agree to the license Agreement, 19, click "Continue", then click "Agree" in the Pop-up dialog box.

This step requires you to choose where to install Mac OS X, as shown in 20. Select the hard drive icon and click "Continue". If we do not erase the virtual hard disk, it will be stuck in this step.

At this time to enter the long installation process, 21, wait for the progress bar to finish. Don't believe the "13 minutes left" crap. On the author's computer (ThinkPad t450s,i5-5200u,12g memory, 120G SSD), the progress bar will take half an hour to finish, you can speculate, if you put the virtual hard disk on the mechanical hard drive instead of the SSD, the time will be longer.

If your computer does not have a solid-state drive, I suggest you buy a 64GB u disk, in the dialog box shown in Figure 7, the virtual machine and virtual hard disk on the USB stick. It's going to be a little faster.

After the progress bar has gone, the virtual opportunity restarts. Then, Mac OS x will let you select the region, as shown in 22: Of course Select "China", then click "Continue".

This step requires you to select the keyboard, set the keyboard layout to "Simplified Chinese", the input method to select "Pinyin", and then click "Continue". By the way, the Mac OS x built-in Wubi ime is really bad. The author, as a Wubi user, has not hoped for it, instead of a third-party Wubi input method.

"Transfer information to current Mac" (24) is similar to the "Data Migration Assistant" in Windows, but we are installing Mac OS X in a virtual machine, and there is no need to migrate personal data and information to the virtual machine. Select "Do not transmit any information now" and then click "Continue".

This step asks if you want to enable Location services (25). It doesn't matter whether it's enabled or not, click "Continue".

This step requires you to enter Apple id,26 as shown. Fill in the Apple ID you have prepared, and then click Continue. If you don't have an Apple device, it's a good idea to have an Apple ID when installing a Mac OS x system in VMware.

This step requires you to agree to the installation terms, 27, click "Agree", then click "Agree" in the Pop-up dialog box.

You are asked to create a login account, 28, select "Sign in with my icloud account" and "Set time zone based on current location", click "Continue" and wait for the system to create an account.

The system asks if you want to turn on "Find My Mac" and click "Allow" as shown in 29. And then continue to wait.

The system asks if you set icloud keychain, 30. icloud Keychain is handy for syncing web site passwords across devices, but we rarely surf the internet in virtual machines, and there's no need to set them up. Select "Set up Later" and click "Continue".

In this step, the system asks if you want to upgrade to icloud Drive,31, as shown, the answer is yes. Select "Upgrade to icloud Drive" and then click "Continue".

Finally, the system asks if you will use the data sent to Apple, 32, you can choose not to choose, directly click "Continue". Then wait for the system to set up your Mac.

After a few minutes of waiting, the virtual machine screen shows the desktop of Mac OS x. The installation process is declared closed.

But there is no need to be happy, because we have some finishing work to deal with.

V. Installing VMware Tools, updating the system to the latest version

First, you install VMware Tools, which improves the display of virtual machines and facilitates the exchange of data between host and virtual machines.

33: Right-click on the disc icon on the desktop, select "Eject OS X Base System", then click "Virtual machine" → "Install VMware Tools" on the Virtual Machine Window menu bar (vm→install vmware Tools).

A VMware tools window pops up on the virtual machine desktop, and double-click Install VMware Tools to bring up the Install VMware Tools Wizard, shown in 34. Click "Continue".

The system requires you to enter a password. After you enter your password (the password here is your Apple ID password), click "Install Software", shown in 35.

Click "Continue installation" in the dialog box shown in 36.

Finally click "Restart", shown in 37. Wait for the virtual machine to restart.

Second, after the installation of VMware Tools, you need to update the system to the latest version. Update system allows you to continue to install the new version of the software (the system version is too low, some new software can not be installed), reduce a variety of incompatibility problems and bugs.

After the virtual machine restarts, it will enter the login screen, select your Apple ID corresponding to the mailbox, enter the password, return to login.

Then click on the Apple icon in the upper left corner of the screen, select "About this Mac", 38, then click "Software Update" in the "about this Mac" window that pops up.

Then, the system will enter the AppStore, and will check the update, find the update package will be displayed, you just click the "Update" button, you will go to the update process, the update will restart the virtual machine after the end.
