Install telnet on centos6 and 7

Lsb_release-a to view centos versions because 6 and 7 are installed differently. Rpm-qatelnet-serverrpm-qaxinetdyumlist | greptelnetyuminstalltelnet-server.x86_64yuminstalltelnet.x86_64yumlist | gr

Run lsb_release-a to check the centos version because the installation method of 6 and 7 is different.

Rpm-qa telnet-server
Rpm-qa xinetd

Yum list | grep telnet

Yum install telnet-server.x86_64

Yum install telnet. x86_64

Yum list | grep xinetd

Yum install xinetd. x86_64

Vi/etc/xinetd. d/telnet

Disable = no:

In CentOS 6.x:

Service xinetd start

On CentOS 6:

Chkconfig telnet on
Chkconfig xinetd on

On CentOS 7:

Systemctl start telnet. socket
Systemctl enable telnet. socket
