Toss for two days and share the experience.

I need to install the Ubuntu 14.0.4 on a machine that already has Win7 installed (both), research down to have the following several scenarios, all toss over, share experience:

mode 1:wubi.exe, install Ubuntu to the specified Windows partition

I use this method after installation, start Ubuntu every time the root directory "/" Disk check error, ignore this error and then appear "/tmp" does not exist such as errors, in short, not successful, do not analyze the advantages and disadvantages of this approach. Not recommended. The following connection to the installation method reference.

Mode 2: Use DVD or USB disk to install

Online Search a lap, a lot of people recommend using UltraISO to do a U disk to start, in fact, completely unnecessary (PS, seemingly >4g u disk can not be formatted as FAT32 format, in the format only NTFS and EXFAT options, and UltraISO requires FAT32 format to do Linux startup)

Later, I installed the method of success is to use the official online suggested method.

Note that this installation requires unallocated space on the hard disk (the above Wubi.exe need to be installed to the specified partition). In Disk Management, you can right-click a volume (such as D) and select Compress volume to cut out part of the space from D disk.

This installation of Ubuntu will allow the user to choose to boot into Ubuntu or windows at boot time.

The advantage is that Windows or Linux systems use all of the computer's cpu/memory to run more efficiently.

The disadvantage is that switching between systems requires a reboot, and information sharing between the two systems is inconvenient.

Mode 3:win7 running virtual machines (VirtualBox, VMware)

I used the VirtualBox. Installation method is not to repeat, online tutorials a lot.

This is the last way I use Ubuntu, because it has the following advantages:

[1] windows and Ubuntu running at the same time, switching systems do not need to reboot

[2] Sharing files between the two systems, clipboard, etc. is more convenient. Another important reason is that my goagent configuration on Ubuntu has been unsuccessful (access to Facebook but not Google). When I work on Ubuntu, I need to be Google frequently. So using the VirtualBox approach, I can work in Win7 Google, Ubuntu.

[3] If you change the computer, it is convenient to transfer virtual image to the new machine;

Of course, the main disadvantages are:

[1] High requirements for computer configuration (my 8G memory computer, assigned 4G to run Ubuntu in the virtual machine, so I run some large programs in Ubuntu is relatively smooth;

[2] Ubuntu is not efficient, because it is a virtual environment. But for me, the main thing is to build a development environment, and performance is not a big problem.
