Install Webmin on a Linux (centos) Server

Webmin Introduction
Webmin is currently the most powerful web-based UNIX system management tool. The Administrator accesses various management functions of Webmin through a browser and completes corresponding management actions. Currently, Webmin supports the vast majority of Unix systems. In addition to various versions of Linux, these systems include Aix, HPUX, Solaris, unixware, Irix, And FreeBSD.

Webmin allows you to remotely use a web browser that supports HTTPS (HTTP over SSL) protocol to manage your host on the Web interface. This provides simple and in-depth remote management while ensuring security. This makes Webmin ideal for system administrators because all mainstream platforms have Web browsers that meet or even exceed the preceding requirements. Moreover, Webmin has its own "Web server", so it does not need to run third-party software (such as Web servers ). Everything is ready. The Webmin modular architecture allows you to write your own configuration modules as needed. In addition to the modules described here, Webmin also includes many modules. Although we will focus on network services, you can see that almost every part of your system can be configured and managed through Webmin.

Installation steps:

1. log on to the server using SSH client software
2. Switch the directory to the root directory. The command is CD/root/
3, download the Webmin installation file, the command is: wget http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/webadmin/webmin-1.450.tar.gz
4, extract the file, the command is: tar-xzf webmin-1.450.tar.gz
5. Go to the Webmin extract directory and run Setup. Sh. The command is./setup. Sh.

6. You can press enter to complete the installation. At last, you need to set the user name and password. The default user name is admin and can be modified by yourself, the password below must be a password that is easy to remember.

The procedure is as follows:
Config file directory [/etc/Webmin]: Press ENTER // directly press enter to select the default installation path or another path, and then press Enter.
Log File directory [/var/Webmin]: Press ENTER // same as above
Web server port (default 10000): Enter // specify the Web access port. The default port is 10000.
Login Name (default admin): // enter the logon user name here. The default value is "admin"
Login Password: enter the password
Password again: enter the password again
Start Webmin at boot time (y/N): Enter "Y"
7. After the installation prompt is displayed, enter http: // ip: 10000 in the browser, and press Enter. If a logon interface is displayed, Webmin has been installed successfully.
8. The installation is in English. After logging on to the Webmin system, choose Webmin> Webmin configuration> language, and select Simplified Chinese (zh_cn) in the display in language field ), then, click "Change Language" to enter the Webmin system again, and Chinese characters will be displayed.
