My points include the following:
1. product managers still need skills, especially for junior product managers. From the perspective of the status quo of education and training in China, there are very few technical newcomers to the product team. The vast majority of new people who enter the product team are not skilled. This is not conducive to career development, especially in the face of the reality that "not every product manager will be a boss. He is deeply engaged in a certain field, whether it is market, application research, visual, interactive, front-end, or program. Do not treat yourself as a CEO. From this point of view, the relevant major is a good choice, there are no advantages or disadvantages.
2. If you select a major, you can select a thinking mode. If you study a major, you can select a thinking mode. There is a story about a student who has listened to a certain course of a certain professor many times. Then, the professor asked him, have you learned this course so many times? The student replied that I did not study the course itself, but taught you how to think about the problem. Over the past few years, I have learned how to think about the problem ...... Everyone is a product manager. People of different professional backgrounds may become excellent product managers. The foundation of success is not their major, but their thinking training from their professional learning. From this perspective, different majors can be an option. Some majors focus on the macro level, some on the details, and some on logic while others on the feeling. The major is not important. It is the most important thing to teach you to think ......
3. production is the best way to learn. I remember a small article, one of which tells that one person seems to have many books but has not studied for half a piece. I guess this person is a rich second generation. He treats the right to study as a casual pleasure. Many people say that product managers should be involved in a wide range and broaden their horizons. However, it does not make much sense to enter only. From a psychological point of view, you put all your knowledge into the library of the brain, instead of managing it. When you really need it, you cannot get it out. Therefore, the production of knowledge products is very important. Writing, thesis, experiment, and participation in project practices can allow you to manage, shape, and upgrade your knowledge. From this perspective, professional selection does not seem necessary. It is a good thing to study abroad. I have heard that foreign schools can earn a diploma from their own works, which is definitely more competent for product posts than they are currently.
Finally, what I want to say is. I graduated from psychology and have studied psychology for many years. Many people who make products are very optimistic about the value of Psychology in product design. There is nothing wrong with this, but do not be too arrogant. Borrow a word from the Deputy Prime Minister-kill, psychology is actually no different from other majors. The difference is who learns it and who uses it. Of course, there is no need to go to black psychology. It is very simple to say what psychology is. Actually not. Social psychology teaches us the nature of human nature; Cognitive Psychology teaches us the characteristics of human thinking; Research Methods teach us how to conduct qualitative and quantitative research on problems; statistical measurement tells us how to get data and process analysis data ...... What Should psychology teach? The undergraduate course can "Learn" psychology for four years, but most students know the situation. In addition, reading a few psychology books is not really a learning psychology, but it takes a deep dive to enjoy pleasure.
Internet product managers still need a skill
