JDK (Java Development Kit, Java Development Kit, and Java Development tools) is a program Development environment for writing Java applets and applications. It consists of a running environment on the operating system layer and tools required by developers to compile, debug, and run applets and applications written in Java.

JDK (Java Development Kit) is a product developed by Sun Microsystems for Java developers. Since the launch of Java, JDK has become the most widely used Java SDK (Software development kit ).

JDK includes the following basic components:

· Javac-compiler, which converts the source program into bytecode

· Jar-packaging tool to package related class files into one file

· Javadoc-document builder, which extracts documents from source code comments

· Jdb-debugger, error checking tool

JDK also includes the complete JRE (Java Runtime Environment, Java runtime Environment), also known as private Runtime. It includes a variety of libraries used in the product environment and complementary libraries for developers, such as international libraries and IDL libraries.

JDK also contains various example programs to demonstrate various parts of Java APIs.
