Joomla Modify component source code can not display the effect of modification

I want to modify the source of a Joomla component, but it has no effect after the modification. Whether you restart the computer or delete the cache is useless, even if the component of the entire folder is deleted, the component can be used normally.

So I would like to ask whether you can directly in the Joomla Components folder source code inside the modification, or that these components are installed in fact have generated the executable binary files. If this is the case, then it is necessary to modify the source of the component can only be re-uninstall the installation components.

The environment I'm using is Xampp,joomla 1.7.
