Kindle Paperwhite jailbreak/font/support for PDF, Epub, djvu, fb2, CHM, and Doc documents

0. Upgrade

Official firmware upgrade: http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=hp_left_cn? Ie = utf8 & nodeid = 201064850

After the download is complete, disconnect the USB connection and upgrade and install the tool through menu> Settings> menu> Update your kindle.

1. Jailbreak

Download and decompress the kpw_jb.zip jailbreak package. Insert KPW into the computer,
(1 ). Copy the "jailbreak. Sh" and "mobi8_debug" files in the jailbreak package to the root directory;
(2 ). Copy the "jailbreak.mobi" file to the Documents folder;
(3 ). Secure the pop-up of your KPW drive and disconnect the USB;
(4 ). Then, read your KPW machine and you will see a new file named "Paperwhite jailbreak. Open this document.
(5 ). Follow the instructions in this document to complete several simple steps !!!

2. Install kpvbooklet
Kpvbooklet supports Kindle firmware 5.1.2 to 5.3.5 (it is recommended to upgrade to above 5.3 after jailbreak),: https://code.google.com/p/kpvbooklet-package/downloads. Decompress the downloaded ZIP file, copy the update_kpvbooklet_x.x_install.bin file to the root directory of the Kindle disk, and disconnect the USB. Use menu> Settings> menu> Update your Kindle to upgrade and install the tool. Do not use restart to install the tool.
PS: update your Kindle is displayed in gray, probably because you have installed a specific version. You can create a file named duokan_disable under the root directory of the Kindle disk (that is: create a file and remove the suffix), restart the machine, and then install the file.

3. Install koreader
Download the latest koreader installation package: https://code.google.com/p/koreader-package/downloads. Extract the downloaded ZIP file to the root directory of the Kindle disk.

Koreader can be integrated with the native system through kpvbooklet. documents such as Epub and djvu can be displayed on the main interface of the native system. By default, koreader is used to open PDF, Epub, djvu, fb2, CHM, and Doc documents, and MoBi, azw, and TXT documents are opened using the built-in reader of the native system. You can also press the PDF document to select goto in the pop-up window and use the native reader to open the PDF document. (That is to say, it does not affect the use of the original system dictionary. The poster cannot watch the original system because it is inconvenient to scan the PDF file ). 4. Add a font (without jailbreak, take the window system as an example)

(1 ). window to display the file extension (skip this step if the extension is already displayed ), first, open a folder on your computer-select "Tools" option-then select "Folder Options"-select "View"-remove the "hide the extension of known files" option.
(2). KPW connects to the computer through the data cable, open the KPW disk, create a TXT file in a directory, rename the TXT file
Use_alt_fonts: ensure that the file has no extension when renaming (this is the first step ).

(3) create a folder named fonts in the root directory of The KPW disk and put the fonts to be added in the fonts folder.
(4) safely exit the Kindle connection, unplug the data cable, and restart KPW (menu key-settings-menu key-Restart)
(5) open a book on the Kindle and press AA to see the added font.
(Fonts can be searched on the Internet and used in computer fonts. I personally think the font of Fangyuan and Lanting are good)
