There are a lot of questions about lan shared Internet access. Many organizations are now using LAN, which is hard to avoid. Today, we have selected four common questions and made a simple answer.

Problem 1: There are five computers in the office that are connected to the Internet through the Internet shared ADSL Broadband. when surfing the Internet on these computers, some web pages cannot be opened. However, when accessing the Internet through a dial-up or leased line, I found that all these webpages can be opened. I don't know why?

Answer: This may be caused by the pppoe protocol used in ADSL Broadband Internet access. The pppoe protocol limits the capacity of data packets sent or received each time. Once the limit is exceeded (the maximum transmission unit can only be 1500), network access may be abnormal. To avoid sending or receiving large data packets, you must limit the maximum number of transmission units of TCP data packets.

For example, if the LAN workstation uses the win2000 system, you can expand the Registry branch HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Services \ Tcpip \ Parameters \ Interfaces (1) in sequence ), in the subwindow on the right of the corresponding "interfaces" primary key, right-click the blank area and execute the "new"/"double byte value" command in the shortcut menu in sequence, set the new key value name to "MTU", and then set its value to "1490" (in decimal format ). If the preceding settings do not allow you to access the webpage correctly, modify the "MTU" value and try again.

Question 2: To achieve faster shared transmission speeds when using a Broadband Router for shared Internet access, we sometimes need to enable the router's UPnP function (Universal Plug and Play function ), in WINXP, how does one correctly enable this function?

A: currently, emerging broadband routers have excellent support for UPnP functions. However, WINXP does not support UPnP by default, therefore, we often need to manually install this function component. Of course, before installation, enter the IP address of the router in the address bar of the IE browser to go to its Web Management page, and find the UPnP option of the router on this page, check whether the option is "activated". If not, set it to "enable ". Next, go to the "add or delete programs" page of WINXP, click the "Add/delete Windows Components" button, and then select the "Network Service" option, click the "details" button, and then select the "General Plug and Play" project. After restarting the computer system, open the network neighbor window and check whether there is a "shadow" of the Broadband Router. If so, WINXP has enabled the UPnP function correctly.


Question 3: the LAN in the Organization is connected to the Internet through a 10 m broadband optical fiber. Now we want to use BitTorrent in the LAN workstation to share audio and video files with friends, I don't know how to make shared transmission faster?

A: considering that BitTorrent is always in the multi-thread transmission status during work, we should try to increase the disk cache capacity and avoid BitTorrent from frequently accessing the hard disk, this ensures that the shared transmission is always at full speed.
To increase the disk cache capacity, you can open the registry editing page and move the cursor to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ Session Manager \ Memory Management Branch, check whether the "iopagelocklimit" key value exists in the right subwindow of "memory management" (2). If not, you can right-click "new"/"double byte value" in the menu to create it, and set its value to "8000" or higher (in hexadecimal format ), click "OK" and restart the system to make the settings take effect.

Problem 4: It is common for workstations in the LAN to transmit shared files to each other. However, when transferring shared files, many people usually open the shared folder of the other workstation first, then copy the local shared file to the shared folder of the other party. If the other party has many "hidden" layers in the shared folder, this method will be cumbersome. Is there a faster way to transfer and share data? If so, how can this problem be achieved?

A: the answer is yes. You can use the "send" function in Windows to send shared files more quickly. Next, I will take the win2000 system as an example to introduce the specific implementation steps: first open the resource manager window, and then click the "Tools"/"folder" option in the window, go to the "View" tab, select the "show all files and folders" option, and click "OK, the "sendto" folder is "Explicit" (by default, this folder is hidden ); expand the "Documents and Settings", "User Name", and "sendto" folders in sequence. Then open the "Network neighbors" window, and set the shortcut icon of the folder shared by the other party, drag directly to the sendto folder window. In the future, if you want to quickly send local files to the shared folder, right-click the target file and run the "send" command from the shortcut menu that appears, select the shortcut icon of the Peer shared folder in the lower menu, so that your target file can be quickly transmitted to the peer computer.
