Lenovo Windows 8-pre-installed models replace Windows 7 and how Windows XP sets

Note:

This document explains how to modify the WINDOWS8 model to replace the lower version of the operating system, because the ThinkPad computer randomly without Windows 8 recovery CD, if you still want to retain the original version of the Windows 8 system, create a restore media prior to the replacement system reservation, create a method see Create a recovery media method

Warm tip: Respected Lenovo users, in order to prevent the risk of accidental loss of computer data, we recommend that you regularly back up your important data to third-party storage media (such as servers, CDs, Removable storage devices, etc.) to ensure that your data security.

Action method:

1. During the boot process, click F1 to enter the BIOS interface;

2. Enter Security---Secure boot, the secure boot will be modified as disabled;

3. After continuing to enter the startup-uefi/legacy boot option under BIOS, here are two options:

1 The uefi/legacy boot option is selected as Both,uefi/legacy boot priority selected as UEFI. This method is applicable to all versions of the operating system installation;

If the error "device driver cannot be found" is generated during installation, as shown in the second picture. Generally, because the GPT partition is not recognized, the method installed in the diagram above solves the problem.

2 uefi/legacy boot selected as UEFI ONLY,CSM Select Yes. Can be understood as a UEFI compatibility mode. This method is only available for use with CD-ROM installation of Windows 7 SP1 versions that can support UEFI;

4. If you need to install XP or an earlier operating system, you will need to modify AHCI in Config-serial ATA (SATA)-SATA Controller Mode option to compatibility, (Vista, Win7 such as high version of the system does not need to change);

5. After putting into operation installation disc, click F10 (or FN+F10) to select Yes, save BIOS settings and exit;

6. The machine will automatically reboot, after the power-on click F12 (or FN+F12) Select CD-ROM boot, follow the installation instructions for Windows 7 continue to install the operating system.
