Linux database: MySQL enable and view binary logs

In the/etc/my.cnf file, under "Mysqld", add:

Server-id = 1 (guaranteed to be unique throughout the MySQL cluster)
Log-bin = Binlog
Log-bin-index = Binlog.index

To restart MySQL:

MySQL enable and view binary logs

To see if the log is enabled

Mysql>show variables like ' log_bin ';

View the current log

Mysql> Show master status;

See binary log files with Mysqlbinlog

Shell>mysqlbinlog mail-bin.000001

View table Structure

Show columns from tables;
