[Linux] Three solutions install Ubuntu dual-system in Windows

Ubuntu is undoubtedly the best choice for beginners when learning Linux.

Below are three methods for installing Ubuntu on Windows.

1. Virtual Machine installation (not recommended)

Tools used: VMWare

We do not recommend that you use virtual machines for installation, for example, if Mac OS is not compatible with hardware, federa installation is prone to errors, and various drivers are incomplete.

I personally feel that this is a kind of violation of the operating system, because the people you get it, but do not get it.

However, the installation of virtual machines is not without any advantages. You do not have to worry about the driver of the NIC, graphics card, and sound card, or hardware incompatibility.

The procedure is as follows.

1. Download the Ubuntu Image File

This can be downloaded directly from the official website:

Http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/zh-CN

After downloading, it should be an ISO image file.

2. download and install the vmwarevm

This is a famous Virtual Machine Software. Its full name is vmware workstation,

Baidu can search for it and download it. Here I use vmware8.

3. Create a new Virtual Machine

Virtual Machine Software is just a big environment. To install the operating system, you still need to create a new virtual machine.

A real computer in reality is called a "host", and a virtual computer that exists in VMware is called a "virtual machine ".

Press Ctrl + n to create the instance, select "classic", and click "Next.

Select "Install the operating system later" and click Next.

Choose Linux> Ubuntu and click Next.

Enter the Virtual Machine name and installation location. We recommend that you do not install the Virtual Machine on disk C.

Then the system size is allocated, which is about 10 Gb, and the default file option is enough.

In this way, a virtual machine is created:

4. Install the system.

We first set this virtual machine.

Double-click floppy and then click Remove:

Select the CD, click "Use Image", and click "Browse" to open the image file of the Ubuntu system:

Click OK to complete the configuration.

5. Click the green play button to run the VM, and you will be able to see the Ubuntu installation interface:

The subsequent system installation is very simple and will not be described in detail.

Ii. wubi installation (recommended for new users)

Utility: extract Software

Wubi is a desktop installation solution launched by Ubuntu for Microsoft. It is easy to use and suitable for beginners who want to install dual systems at the same time.

1. Create a separate partition for Ubuntu

My computer-> right-click-> Manage-> disk management

Select a disk with a relatively large free space and compress the volume to about 10 Gb.

Right-click the green new space and choose create volume, named Ubuntu, and assume it is K disk.

2. Right-click the image file and choose open mode: Decompress the software.

Decompress the image file.

After the decompression, you can see that there is a wubi.exe in it. Double-click it and select the partition K.

It is recommended that you enter the password, but it should not be too complicated, because the password entered in Linux cannot be seen. You only need to press enter to know whether the entered password is correct.

The advantage of this installation scheme is that the boot guide is win7's own boot, the default boot is win7, Ubuntu is only one of the options.

Iii. Installation with a USB flash drive (Orthodox Dual System)

Utility: ultraiso

USB flash drives are generally used to install multiple systems. Four of the six systems on my computer are installed with USB flash drives. The specific process is as follows:

1. Download and install ultraiso.

This is the recording software, which will be used when making the system disk below.

2. Prepare an empty USB flash drive.

Because the data in the burning system is erased, we recommend that you back up the data in advance and use an empty USB flash disk.

3. Burning System

Enable the disk to use ultraiso, select enable, and select the Ubuntu system image:

Select write hard disk image:

Select the inserted USB flash drive (do not select the wrong one) and click Start.

If the task fails, right-click Apsara stack and select "Run as administrator.

About 5 minutes later, I restarted my computer and pressed F2 at startup.

If you do not know what to press, you can also tune the BIOS option, select the U disk to start

Different types of computers are recommended. The purpose of the fierce press is to select the boot item, the option of selecting USB is to start with a USB flash disk.

Then you can use the USB flash drive to go To the Ubuntu operating system installation interface. The remaining operations can be completed after you look at the interface.

This installation is a real dual-system, and the boot is Ubuntu boot. After you try it, you will know that the default options for boot are Ubuntu and purple, select the fifth option to enter the windwos system.

The above three solutions are summarized below:

1. Virtual Machine Installation

Advantage: Install software on windows without worrying about crashes or unexpected situations.

Disadvantages: poor user experience, unable to really appreciate the benefits of ubuntu.

Advantage: You can simply double-click to run it, which is quick and convenient. The original Windows boot is retained to meet the usage habits of most people.

Disadvantage: Ubuntu boot is not the result that most people want. You have to select a Windows system every time you start the system. It is not necessary to experience Linux.
