In the past few days, I want to write a Linux client (mainly for Ubuntu) to Kingsoft fast disk. The software development complexity is far from what I think. In fact, the API provided by kubernetes is not complicated, but the client I want to develop must face different development environments. in simple words, for Ubuntu only, I have to deal with Ubuntu's different desktop shell, gnome or unity, not to mention, desktop shell also has other heavyweight, lightweight such as KDE. There are also some differences between different versions such as gnome (for example, gnome3 abandoned gnome-applet ,) their environment and the technologies and database functions required in development are always slightly or slightly different. They must be considered by multiple parties during development and are prone to errors, (For example, the implementation of unity and gnome on the top panel of the desktop is different.ProgramThere must also be multiple implementation methods ).
This reminds me of the embarrassment faced by application developers when the Android mobile phone system has multiple versions and various manufacturers have customized it. The market is filled with a variety of Android smartphones that are not perfectly compatible with each other.
Kingsoft kubernetes for Ubuntu is expected to come out by the end of August. My idea is to integrate the cloud storage feature of kubernetes with Nautilus and gnome shell to make them look like a whole. If you are interested, contact me for a beta version. Garygaowork # gmail.com [#-> @]
