First step: Open the "terminal" application.

Step Two: Enter the following command:

Defaults write Com.apple.finder Appleshowallfiles-boolean true; Killall Finder

Step three: Press the "return" key to confirm.

You will now see the hidden files and folders in the Finder window.

If you want to hide the original hidden files and folders again, replace the above command with

Defaults write Com.apple.finder Appleshowallfiles-boolean false; Killall Finder

Can.

Note: This command applies to OS X Mavericks and OS X Yosemite systems. For MAC users who are still using OS X Mountain Lion or an earlier version of the system, the command needs to change slightly.
