What exactly is "other"? And how to clean it?
"Other" in essence, is to remove the Mac application, backup, audio, film, photos of the five categories out of the sixth category.
It can be said that basically as long as the documents that do not belong to the above five categories, they are classified as "other" by the system.
Includes: Files in any format, such as PDF DOC PSD, etc.
Also: archive and disk image such as DMG ISO rar zip ...
As well as personal user data, information, and your icould storage files, a-person installed fonts, Third-party Plug-ins and Screensavers
Extensions on applications and browsers, and virtual machine-partitioned memory and virtual hard disk space are included
The above "other" we do not want to delete, but do not forget some of the system is not recognized or temporary files, which is also attributed to them.
Some small partners, may think that their hard disk space is large enough, do not need to consider these, for this kind of idea of the landlord is helpless, please automatic brain repair, no matter how large a disk, relative to more data will only make the computer run more and more slowly. So it comes down to the above we can use the following actions to clean up the "other" on the disk in order to free up memory.
Cleaning method:
Reboot the computer : Restarting is always helpful to the computer, because it immediately deletes the file cache that the system is unable to process.
empty The Trash: Why is the deleted file still stored in the computer?
Remove unused applications : either the system itself or a third party download.
Delete temporary files : This will involve the system cache, which is recommended for cleaning my Mac.
Delete language files : Almost every system application, contains more than 10 countries of the language pack, if you make sure you do not need, then manually delete them.
Remove Mac OS X sleepimage files : This is what you create when your Mac goes to sleep, open terminal input: sudo rm/private/var/vm/sleepimage, then you'll need to enter a password to clear it.
Remove Backup from your iOS : first delete or not varies from person to person, because IOS backups can take up a significant amount of storage space on the computer. If you want to delete them.
Go directly to the folder: ~/library/applicationsupport/mobilesync/backup/, delete the data in it.
