Manual Oracle Uninstall manually Uninstall oracleA number of people have contacted me regarding problems uninstalling Oracle products. the two methods listed below shocould only be used as a last resort and will remove * all * Oracle software allowing a re-install. if you make any mistakes they can be quite destructive so be careful. windowsUNIXWindowsIn the past I 've had implements problems uninstall Ing all Oracle products from Windows systems. here's my last resort method: I encountered many problems when I uninstalled oracle on windows. The following are some of my latest methods: uninstall all Oracle components using the Oracle Universal Installer (OUI ). run regedit.exe and delete the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Oracle key. this contains registry entires for all Oracle products. run regedit in the command line and delete the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Oracle key in the registry. It contains all registration records of oracle products. If you are running 64-bit Windows, you shoshould also delete the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Wow6432Node/Oracle key if it exists.64-bit windows, you need to delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Wow6432Node/Oracle (if any) delete any references to Oracle services left behind in the following part of the registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/Ora *). delete all records related to oracle services, that is, (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/Cu R1_controlset/Services/Ora *). The legacy record It shoshould be pretty obvious which ones relate to Oracle. The record content should be closely related to oracle. Reboot your machine. restart the server to Delete the "C: \ Oracle" directory, or whatever directory is your ORACLE_BASE. delete all directories under $ oracle_home Delete the "C: \ Program Files \ Oracle" directory. delete "C: \ Program Files \ All Oracle content If you are running 64-bit Wiindows, you shoshould also delete the" C: \ Program Files (x86) \ Oracle "directory. for a 64-bit system, you need to delete C: \ Program Files (x86) \ OracleEmpty the contents of your "C: \ temp" directory. clear Empty C: \ tempEmpty your recycle bin. clear the recycle bin At this point your machine will be as clean of Oracle components as it can be without a complete OS reinstall. remember, manually editing your registry can be very destructive and force an OS reinstall so only do it as a last resort. manual registry editing is a very dangerous operation. If some DLLs can't be deleted, try renaming them, the after a reboot delete them. If some ddls cannot be deleted, try to rename them, or restart them before deleting them. UNIXUninstalling all products from UNIX is a lot more consistent. if you do need to resort to a manual uninstall you shoshould do something like: Uninstall all Oracle components using the Oracle Universal Installer (OUI ). use oui to uninstall the oracle component Stop any outstanding processes using the appropriate utilities. stop all oracle-related processes # oemctl stop oms user/password # agentctl stop # lsnrctl stopAlternatively you can kill M using the kill-9 pid command as the root user you can also use the kill-9 pid to kill the process .. Delete the files and directories below the $ ORACLE_HOME. delete $ ORACLE_HOME. directory # cd $ ORACLE_HOME # rm-Rf * With the exception of the product directory, delete directories below the $ ORACLE_BASE. in some special cases, Delete $ ORACLE_BASE # cd $ ORACLE_BASE # rm-Rf admin doc jre o * Delete the/etc/oratab file. if using 9iAS delete the/etc/emtab file also. delete the/etc/oratab file.
