The following is Microsoft's statement: "Upgrading the motherboard will generate a new PC, and Microsoft's operating system cannot be transferred to the new PC. Microsoft's explanation of this clause is: "Microsoft needs a reasonable basic clause that can define the original PC. Because the motherboard contains the CPU and it is the computer's 'heart and soul ', after the motherboard is changed (except for damages), a new computer is created."

Microsoft has sent a memorandum to its OEM partners to strictly enforce this policy every time they upgrade the computer for the customer.
