In Thursday, Microsoft announced that it would launch a new application programming interface (API) to make it easier for developers to apply Bing's expertise to applications they develop, according to the VB report. Developers will be able to "discover" Bing's knowledge about people, places, and things through the API. That is, when the user is using an application, the user does not have to search for a message about the application, and the API can tell the user directly what Bing knows about the app. Microsoft Search general manager Ryan Gavin says the API is free to use during the development and testing phases.
