The development of mobile communication has a crucial impact on the network. Now, as the network is updated and IPv4 is updated to IPv6, IPv6 will also be used as the mobile device for mobile communication. The Mobile IPv6 protocol for Mobile is the latest version of the Mobile network.

Mobile IPv6 protocol

Mobile IPv6 is a network protocol that supports mobility in IPv6. It divides all nodes involved in communication into three roles:

Mobile Node MobileNode, MN), nodes that the access point can switch between different links;

Home Agent HomeAgent, HA), a fixed node in the MN-registered network, which records the current location of MN and forwards packets to MN that are not on the registration link;

Peer node CorrespondentNode, CN). The node that communicates with MN can be a fixed node or a mobile node.

Mobile IPv6 first ensures the continuity of communication between MN and CN after MN is moved, that is, communication between MN and CN is not interrupted after MN is moved, on this basis, the communication efficiency between the two is improved.

MN uses the HoA address in the home link) to communicate with all CN, this method is no different from the traditional IP communication method; MN moves to a foreign link to obtain the CoA forwarding address ), register and notify HA of its current location through its hometown. At this time, all communications between MN and CN are transferred through HA, and IP packets between HA and MN are transmitted through tunnel/reverse tunnel.

To improve the communication efficiency between MN and CN, MN notifies CN of its current location through the CN registration process and establishes a Routing Optimization relationship with it. Once the Routing Optimization relationship is established, CN and MN communicate directly.

To achieve direct communication between CN and MN, Mobile IPv6 defines a new route extension header Type2 route extension header) and Home Address Option, HAO ):

The route extension header of Type2 carries the IP packet in the IP packet sent to mn in cn, and the mn restores the IP packet based on its own HoA replacement IP address in the Type2 route extension header; the Home address option is carried by the destination option header of the IP packet sent from MN to CN, and CN restores the IP packet based on the source address in the IP packet of the MN HoA carried in the header.

The network protocols above Mobile IPv6 always use the HoA of mn as the Node Address to communicate with other nodes. The IP address and the above Protocol Layer cannot feel the movement of MN and the process of Mobile IPv6's ippacket processing, this ensures the continuity of network transmission between MN mobile and CN.

In general, Mobile IPv6 provides two main functions:

1) mobile-related functions: MN finds its own movement and obtains the new address to notify HA and CN, sets the communication status data between MN and CN, and regularly maintains the data;

2) data receiving and sending functions. When the MN movement status has been determined, the processing of received and sent data between MN and CN, that is, according to the current mobile status to receive and send the IP packet carrying the Mobile Information Type2 route extension header, home address option.
