Mobility policy under IPv6 protocol standards (1)

When people are no longer tied to the inherent communication lines, it is doomed that mobile communication will dominate the world. So what does Internet influence life. We will be able to appreciate this in the days to come. Now, let's take a look at what the mobile communication policy under the IPv6 protocol standards can bring to us.

What is mobile IPv6?

The Mobile IPv6 protocol standard provides users with Mobile IP data services, allowing users to use the same IPv6 address all over the world, making it ideal for wireless Internet access in the future.

The current Internet protocol IPv4 does not provide any mobility support. In response to this situation, IETF formulated a protocol to support mobile internet devices in 1996, called Mobile IP. The Protocol has two versions: IPv4-based mobile IPv4 and IPv6-based mobile IPv6.

The main goal of a Mobile IP address is to address a mobile node through a local address, whether it is connected to a local link or migrated to a foreign network. The Mobile IP adds new features to the network layer. when changing the network connection point, the applications running on the node do not need to be modified or the configuration is still available. These features enable mobile nodes to communicate with each other through a local address. This mechanism is completely transparent to the protocol layer above the IP layer. The local link of a mobile node is called the home link of a mobile node, and the local address of a mobile node is called the home address.

Mobile IPv6 includes hometown proxy registration, triangle routing, route optimization, binding management, mobile detection, and hometown proxy discovery. Shows the Standard Operating Mechanism of IPv6. The figure shows three links and three systems. A vro on link A provides the hometown proxy service, which is the home link of A mobile node. The mobile node moves from link A to link B. There is a communication node on link C, which can be mobile or static.

When a mobile node is connected to a foreign link, it can communicate with one or more transfer addresses in addition to the home address. The forwarding address is the IP address of a mobile node when it is on a remote link. The association between the home address and the transfer address of a mobile node is called binding. The forwarding address of a mobile node can be automatically configured.

The implementation of Mobile IPv6 is inseparable from the hometown agent on the home link. When a mobile node leaves the local area, You need to register a transfer address with a vro on the home link and require the vro to act as the home proxy. The home agent needs to discover the packets sent from the home link to the home address of the mobile node by the proxy neighbor, and then send the intercepted packets to the master forwarding address of the mobile node through the tunnel. In order to send intercepted data packets through tunnels, the home agent needs to encapsulate the data packets in IPv6, and the external IPv6 Header address is set to the master forwarding address of the mobile node.

When a mobile node leaves the local area, some nodes on the home link may be reconfigured. As a result, the router that executes the home proxy function is replaced by other routers. In this case, the mobile node may not know the IP address of the home proxy. Mobile IPv6 provides a dynamic hometown proxy address discovery mechanism. A mobile node can dynamically discover the IP address of the hometown proxy on the home link. when it leaves the home link, it registers the forwarding address on this hometown proxy.
