Frame Relay link test

After the frame relay device is installed on the user end, a series of basic tests are required, that is, activation tests in the general sense. The main purpose of these tests is to ensure that the network parameters are correctly set, the physical and logical performance of the circuit is qualified, and thus the conditions for enabling the Frame Relay Service are met.
Test the performance of a physical line
The test of physical lines is an important part of the activation test of Frame Relay. Run the physical layer test as shown in. The purpose of this test is to test information about the current physical line and network device, including the line encoding method, frame structure, clock, signal level, and connection device type. Through the test, we can fully understand the basic information of the physical line. Another purpose of the physical layer test is to verify the transmission performance of the line. It mainly tests the error rate and checks the response of network transmission devices to various errors and alarms. This test requires a physical loop back at the far end of the line. The tester simulates the generation of binary pseudo-random codes, and tests the error rate through self-reception. The testing time should be more than 15 minutes. During strict line acceptance testing, 24 hours of continuous testing is required. The test instrument shall display Pass for the test result without warning.

Test the Frame Relay Layer
After ensuring that there is no problem with the physical layer, You can further test the Frame Relay layer. In this case, the tester simulates the client device to test the parameter indicators of the frame relay network, including the LMS test and the DLCI list.
(LMILocal Management Interface) the local Management Interface is a protocol for confirming the connectivity between the frame relay network device and the client device. It is similar to the concept of Ethernet Intersite and inter-network connection pulse. There are many different types of LMS. Currently, the following types are commonly used: branch a, Branch D, Original LMIs, ITUx.36, Cisco, and so on.
DLCI is the identifier of the logical virtual circuit. The network uses DLCI to identify different virtual circuits. The setting range of DLCI is 0-1023.
Through tests, we can clarify the LMS type used on the frame relay network side, the configured DLCI list, and the status of each logical circuit. The focus of the LMS and DLCI tests is to ensure consistency between network devices and user-end devices, and to ensure compatibility between network devices and user-end devices.
