3. The network communication protocol supported by the Windows XP Network Bridge is TCP/IP and can only forward packets in a network that communicates with the TCP/IP protocol. The first step: assign different IP addresses to the two different network segments in the Network Bridge. We want to interconnect two network segments one is 10.0.0.0, in the network Bridge we may optionally choose a network card, assigns it the fixed IP address 10.0.0.1, serves as the 10.0.0.0 network interface. The method is: Open Control Panel, select Network, check the properties for local Area connection (first network card), turn on "TCP/IP", select "Specify IP Address", fill in 10.0.0.1, subnet mask 255.0.0.0, and Gateway 10.0.0.1. Similarly, we can assign the IP address to "Local Connection 2" (the second network card) to 192.168.0.1, the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0, and the gateway is 192.168.0.1.

Step two: Start the Windows XP Network Bridge. Right-click on "Local Area Connection" (first network card), find "New bridge", and after clicking, Windows XP will appear a "Network Bridge" icon. However, because there is only one network interface in the Network Bridge, so the network bridge is still temporarily unable to work (Network Bridge icon on the Red Fork). We can see that the icon for the Network Bridge has changed after we have also performed a new bridge on the local Connection 2 (the second network card). Click the right mouse button on the bridge icon and select Properties to check the properties of the network interface that you just joined, such as the name of the NIC, the IP address to which they are bound, and so on.

The third step: After the Network Bridge starts, will the 10.0.0.0 network segment's host gateway all set to 10.0.0.1, will 192.168.0.0 the network segment the host gateway all to set to 192.168.0.1. We choose a computer in the 10.0.0.0 network segment, such as 10.0.0.2, type "ping 192.168.0.2" on the command line, if you receive the response of "Reply from 192.168.0.2 ...", you can explain that the network Bridge works properly, The two network segments are connected and can transmit files to each other.
